Which boxing match you're eager to watch but was canceled due to COVID-19?

If you're going to ask me, my answer is Naoya Inoue vs. John Riel Casimero. Why? Because for me it's an excellent matchup between two exciting combatants at their physical prime.

Although this is not a fight between two undefeated rivals, but man... I just love the firepower to be displayed in this fight.

Casimero is not an undefeated boxer.  If you look at his record, he has been defeated four times. He has a record of 29 wins, 4 losses, 20 wins by stoppages. But this guy is definitely a warrior with power on both hands.

Casimero always came up as the winner in situations that many consider he has no chance. But at times though came out losing on a match he's highly considered to win e.g. against Jonas Sultan. One thing I'm sure about Casimero, he's a battle-tested road warrior. Sa Bisaya pa, dili ni siya balay-balayon.

I don't want to say so much about Naoya Inoue, just look at his record at Boxrec. Well, Inoue has an undefeated record of 19 wins out of which; 16 of his wins by stoppage.

Naoya is skilled, talented, tough, young, powerful on both hands, and explosive finisher. To back-up, all my adjectives to this guy from Japan, just watch Inoue vs Donaire. Man... believe me I watch it 100 times. No. Maybe 5 times now. And I want to watch again every time I have the chance.

Inoue did not stop Donaire though. Because Donaire is Donaire. Donaire was the COVID test (usually we say acid test) of Inoue actually. Inoue passed the test.



Because of my disappointment why this fight is canceled (obviously because of the pandemic) and my excitement to find an update of this fight---I searched to google for update and Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports answered my question. I caught Kevin doing live on his Instagram. I asked him about the Inoue-Casimero fight update.

Kevin said, quoting MP Promotion head Sean Gibbons that "John Riel Casimero was in Las Vegas training." On Inoue, he said that Inoue can get into the US Embassy in Japan once it is open. Once you hear the US Embassy in Japan has re-open then it is just a matter of time before Inoue has their fight scheduled.

Former light flyweight champion John Riel Casimero exacted revenge on tough rival defending titlist Amnat Ruenroeng on their 12-round flyweight rematch at the Diamond Court, in Beijing, China.

Casimero (22 3, 14 KOs) suffered a foul-filled first match last year. Casimero scored a knockdown in Round 4 with a devastating counter left hook landed on the head of Ruenroeng.

Ruenroeng (17 1, 5 KOs) was able to get up back and continued the action but another left hook to the body forced the titlist to his knees. Ruenroeng was not able to get back to onto his feet, and referee Tony Weeks stopped the contest.

The official time of the stoppage 2:10 of the fourth round. And the new.... flyweight titlist was declared!

Boxers tend to outgrow their weight divisions as they go on with their respective careers. It is just a matter of time.

This could be the case with Amnat Ruenroeng and John Riel Casimero. Both fighters came in above the flyweight limit when they hit the scales, Tuesday, for their title rematch on Wednesday at the Diamond Court, in Beijing, China.

Ruenroeng weighed 117.75 pounds, while Casimero registered 113.25 pounds on the scales.

Casimero might be able to shed the excess 1.25 pounds easily in two hours and still illegible for the title. But it would be next to impossible for Ruenroeng to shed 5.75 pounds in two hours.

It is still yet to determine if the fight will push through and on what terms. I will try to update this post with possible updates.

Casimero (21-3, 13 KOs) looking to exact revenge from his foul-filled defeat at the hands of Thailand's Ruenroeng. The Filipino road warrior lost a unanimous decision at the Hua Mark Indoor Stadium, in Bangkok, Thailand in June last year. He chose not to fight--not to risk his mandatory challenger status.

Undefeated Ruenroeng (17-0, 5 KOs) fought once and won over Myung Ho Lee in Thailand.

IBF TITLE SHOT ON THE LINE IN MONTERREY ON DEC. 13

LOS ANGELES (Dec. 12) - A world title shot will be on the line at the Salon Las Palmas in Monterrey, Mexico, on Saturday, December 13, when Mexico City's Armando "Cobra" Santos (14-3-1, 8 KOs) faces Filipino star John Riel "Cuadro Alas"Casimero(20-2, 12 KOs) in a 12-round IBF Flyweight Title Eliminator that will air on FOX Deportes and Televisa.

In the co-main event, unbeaten Francisco "El Bandido" Vargas (20-0-1, 14 KOs) battles Guasave, Sinaloa, Mexico's Genaro "Duro" Camargo (39-15, 32 KOs) in an eight-round lightweight bout.

Also in action will be lightweight contender Roberto "Tito" Manzanarez (28-1, 24 KOs) and unbeaten prospect Adan "Speedy" Mares (12-0-1, 3 KOs).

Santos vs. Casimero, a 12-round IBF flyweight title elimination bout, is presented by Golden Boy Promotions in association with Canelo Promotions and sponsored by Mexico - Live It To Believe It!. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. CT and the FOX Deportes broadcast begins at 10:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. PT and the Televisa broadcast airs at 10:30 p.m. CT on Canal 5.

Unbeaten in seven straight since 2011, 26-year-old Armando "Cobra" Santos (14-3-1, 8 KOs) lives up to his nickname with a style that can see him strike opponents down at any given time once the bell rings. A holder of the NABF, WBC USNBC, and IBF International titles at 112 pounds, the number four-ranked Santos has even bigger goals in mind for 2015, and if he defeats Casimero, he will move even closer to them.

Fighting out of Cebu City, 24-year-old John Riel Casimero (20-2, 12 KOs) is on a mission to regain the title he lost on the scales in May. The IBF flyweight champion since February of 2012, when he defeated Luis Alberto Lazarte, Casimero successfully defended his crown three times before he came in overweight for his bout against Mauricio Fuentes. The brother of multiple-division world champion Abner Mares, Guadalajara's Adan "Speedy" Mares (12-0-1, 3 KOs) is a well-schooled boxer looking to take his game to the next level in 2015. But first, the 25-year-old must get past Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico's Miguel Angel Gonzalez (16-1, 13 KOs), a tough test who will push the rising star to the limit in Monterrey.
