INDIO, CA (July 21, 2017): As temperatures begin to swelter in Coachella Valley, so will the ring at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in a true crossroads fight between Mauricio "El Maestro" Herrera (23-7, 7 KOs) of Riverside, CA and Jesus "Renuente" Soto Karass (28-11-4, 18 KOs) of Los Mochis, Mexico. The two will face each other in a 10-round make-or-break welterweight war on the August 4th edition of Golden Boy Boxing on ESPN, to air on ESPN and ESPN Deportes at 9 P.M. EST/6 P.M. PST. Doors to the action at the Fantasy Springs Special Events Center will open at 4:00 p.m. PT.

Special guest and VIP of the night will be former three-time WBC World Super Bantamweight Champion Israel "Magnifico" Vazquez (44-5, 32 KOs) who is revered for his series of four legendary fights against fellow Mexican compatriot, Rafael Marquez. Vazquez was also a longtime holder of the IBF, Lineal and Ring Magazine titles twice from 2005 to 2008. Vazquez will be in attendance for the fights and will be on site to meet fans, sign autographs and take pictures inside the Fantasy Springs Special Events Center before the ESPN broadcast begins. The meet-and-greet is open to the public with the purchase of a ticket to the event.

As chief support, heavy-hitter Vyacheslav "Lionheart-Chingonskyy" Shabranskyy (18-1, 15 KOs) of Los Angeles will be up against rising Philly contender Todd "2 Gunz" Unthank-May (10-0-1, 4 KOs) for the vacant WBC USNBC Light Heavyweight Title. "Chingonskyy" will be on the lookout to take back the light heavyweight belt he lost to Sullivan Barrera this past December.

Hoping to make TV, undefeated Niko "Baby Face" Valdez (5-0, 5 KOs) will face Jaime "Zarco" Solorio (7-3-2, 5 KOs) of San Quintin, Mex. in a six-round super middleweight bout in hopes to continue his impressive knockout streak.

In a six-round super welterweight bout, LA's Marvin Cabrera (4-0, 4 KOs) will take a massive step up in competition with Esau Herrera (19-8-1, 10 KOs) of Tlaquepaque, Mex. Cabrera was last seen knocking out Quantavious Green at the prestigious 8th Annual "Big Fighters, Big Cause" charity boxing event hosted by legend Sugar Ray Leonard this past May.

Riverside, CA's Ricardo "El Niño" Sandoval (7-1, 7 KOs) will be fighting Durango, Mex.'s Antonio "Tony" Rodriguez (8-17-1, 5 KOs) in a six-round super flyweight match up. Known to bring the action, East L.A's Jonathan "Thunder" Navarro (10-0, 6 KOs) will participate in his first eight-round fight in a super lightweight bout against Durango, Mex.'s Angel Sarinana (7-6-2, 3 KOs). Opening up the night's festivities and representing Palmdale, CA, Cesar Diaz (5-0, 4 KOs) will go up against Angel "Terrible" Monrreal (10-9-1, 3 KOs) of Monterrey, Mex. in a six-round bantamweight affair.

Herrera vs. Soto Karass, a 10-round welterweight fight, is presented by Golden Boy Promotions. The event is sponsored by Tecate, Born BOLD and Hennessy "Never Stop, Never Settle." LOS ANGELES (July 9) - Former WBA Interim Super Lightweight Champion Mauricio "El Maestro" Herrera (21-5, 7 KOs) and top title contender "Hammerin'" Hank Lundy(25-4-1, 12 KOs) of Philadelphia hosted their final press conference in Los Angeles on Thursday, July 9 at the City Althetix Gym in The Golden Boy Building to discuss their upcoming 10-round showdown on Saturday, July 11 for the vacant NABF Super Lightweight Championship.  Presented by Golden Boy Promotions in association withCES Boxing, Herrera vs. Lundy will possibly be the last boxing match held at the historicLos Angeles Memorial Sports Arena before it is demolished early 2016.

Also in attendance were the co-main event fighters Michael "The Artist" Perez and Luis Sanchez who will face off in 10-round lightweight battle for the vacant NABO title. Joseph "Jo Jo" Diaz, Jr. (16-0, 10 KOs) and Rene "Gemelo" Alvarado (22-4, 15 KOs) were also present to discuss their televised 10-round featherweight weight bout on HBO Latino ® Boxing.

Los Angeles based fan-favorite fighters, featured on the non- televised undercard, Nick Arce (3-0, 3 KOs), Jesus Ivan Delgado (5-0-1, 2 KOs) and Jason Quigley (6-0, 6 KOs) were also onsite joined by fellow Golden Boy Promotions fighter from Brooklyn, New York, Zachary "Zungry" Ochoa (11-0-, 5 KOs).

Christian "Chimpa" Gonzalez (10-0, 9 KOs), who attended the press conference and was set to face Jose Esquivel in a six-round super featherweight fight, had to cancel today due to illness, "due to unforeseen circumstances on my behalf I will not be fighting on Saturday. Unfortunately, I've had a fever for 3 days now. I tried very hard to save the fight, but I'm not at 100%. I'm bummed out, but my health comes first," said Christian Gonzalez.

On Saturday night at the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez, Bayamon, Puerto Rico, the 25 year old Danny Garcia will defend his WBO and WBC light welterweight title against Mauricio Herrera. The fight will be Showtime's triple header main event.

Danny Garcia vs. Mauricio Herrera - 12 Rounds,  Junior welterweights

Let me put it like this: plain and simple Herrera (20-3, 7 KO's) is the sacrificial lamb for Danny Garcia. Herrera is there for Garcia to butcher -- that is at least the plan.

This is Garcia's "stay-busy" fight and unlocking the Puerto Rican market. This fight's outcome is anticipated -- Garcia has to win.

Although the outcome of this fight is already anticipated, but let me remind you fight fans that boxing -- is boxing -- you'll never know what will happen in a blink of an eye.

Game changing blows is just a matter of landing at the right spot at the right time. This fight could not be boxing fans "must-see" fight but wait... Herrera might be the perfect spoiler.

Danny Garcia (27-0, 16 KO's) is one of the fast rising star in the business.

At this point in his career, there were already talks that Garcia could be a one of potential opponent of Floyd Mayweather Jr. along with another Garcia. Mikey Garcia. But Danny is more feasible at the time being because he's only a division below Mayweather. Unlike Mikey whose last fight is still at super featherweight. And it's likely that this is Danny Garcia's last fight at 140 division. He will invade the welterweight division, home of boxing's elite cash-cows.

Mayweather has four remaining fights under his Showtime 6-fight mega deal contract. Mayweather's third fight is engaged already against Marcos Maidana on May 3. So the remaining three fights would be Garcia's chance.

With the above said, I'm not taking anything away from Herrera as boxer and as a fighter. But my prediction is that Garcia will knockout Herrera in the sixth round.

Daniel Ponce De Leon vs. Juan Manuel Lopez, 10 Rounds Featherweights rematch

Looks like Daniel Ponce De Leon (45-5, 35 KO's) would like to even the score against Juan Manuel Lopez in this fight. In the first bout Lopez (33-3, 30 KO's) knockout De Leon in the very first round.

Both men were highly regarded knockout artist in 2008 who has a combine knockout ratio of 80%.

I think on the first fight De Leon was just caught up early on and doesn't recovered. He was not able to check Lopez's untested chin yet at that time that Salido did exposed.

So I think the rematch could be a different story. I think De Leon learned his lesson in the first match. And he will try to be cautious early on. He will then focus on Lopez vulnerable chin. I think he'll get his revenge in the seventh round.

Deontay Wilder vs Malik Scott, 10 Rounds, Heavyweights

This will be Deontay Wilder's (30-0, 30 KO's) true test so far in his career. Will Malik Scott stains Wilder's perfect record?Is Wilder the heavyweight that the Americans waiting for? I'll guess yes, at least against Malik Scott. Wilder KO 5 Malik Scott.
