Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico's Canelo Alvarez (43-1-1, 31 KOs) is one of the most compelling figures in the fight game today. A former world champion and still just 23-years-old, Canelo has captivated fans around the world with his exciting fighting style and charisma in and out of the ring. A professional since 2005, Canelo won the WBC Junior Middleweight Title in 2011 and successfully defended it five times before unifying the championship with a 2013 victory over Austin Trout. As a young contender on the rise, Lara suffered a controversial decision loss to Paul Williams in 2011. Since then, he has done his best to take it out of the judges' hands by knocking out Ronald Hearns and Angulo, with the latter victory earning him the WBA Junior Middleweight World Championship. In his most recent bout, Lara won a 12-round unanimous decision over Trout on Dec. 7, 2013, and now the 31-year-old, who makes his home in Houston, will attempt to give Canelo a boxing lesson on July 12.

Chris Algieri stayed and hung tough, with eyes swollen shut, against hard punching Ruslan Provodnikov (23-3, 16 KO's) at Barclays Center, Brooklyn, New York on Saturday night.

Algieri was put down twice in Round 1; first with a left hook that formed a nasty swelling on his right eye. And then flurry of punches forced him to take a knee. Algieri, still undefeated, now improved to 20-0, 8 KO's, ultimately survived an extremely rough first round and managed to go home as new light welterweight champion. The scores were 114-112, 114-112 and 109-117. I had it 114-112 as Algieri thrown more and landed more.

I re-watch Algieri’s fight with Wilfredo Acuna prior to this fight. In the Acuna fight, Algieri showed he can box. He utilized his height and jab to keep Acuna at bay.  Although, I predicted Provodnikov to win via TKO in Round 6, I feel that Algieri’s style poses several problems to a charging Provodnikov.

If Algieri survived the early onslaught he could finish the fight and ultimately go to the scorecards---but at the back of my mind---I don't think that Algieri can do so. But Algieri just did. Not just completed 12 rounds, but he snatched Provodnikov's belt in his (Provo) first title defense.

Most boxing observers favored Provo to win via knockout in their fight previews and prediction.

Algieri got up from the knockdowns he suffered in Round one and boxes well in the remainder of the fight.
He became active and outworks Provodnikov in punch output. He used the jab well; doubling it up when necessary and mixed it up from head and body. He circled around Provodnikov, moving to his left while keeping his guard up. At times Algieri clinched while on the ropes avoiding heavy shots from the champion.

Overall, Algieri used textbook tactics avoiding the most damaging punch. His long jab snapped back Provodnikov's head on several occasions that momentarily stop Provo on his track. Yet his fighting with one eye close.

In the post fight interview Algierei told that he started not able to see in round 8 and in Round 12 he’s “blind”.

Algieri showed what it takes to be a champion. He persevered in the ring with one eye against one of the hardest puncher in 140-147 pound division.

Algiere legs carried out the desired movement needed last night. He took several devastating body shots form Provodnikov. I thought that it will be a matter of few rounds Algieri's legs will betray him.

Accumulation of body punch usually puts boxers stationary.

A stationary Algieri will not last longer against the "Siberian Rocky". Provodnikov will finish the job quickly.

To Provodnikov credit he’s relatively dangerous opponent all night. Every round, it seemed to me that it’s just a matter of time when Provodnikov will land the game changing punch that will put Algieri for good. His pressure was relentless. But 12 rounds passed that time didn't come.

Provodnikov told Max Kellerman after the fight that, "I have to admit, runners are not my style. I like guys that stand there and fight with me. This is the worst style for me."

Although the ring they used for this fight is a bit smaller compared to the standard ring, which is Provo's advantage, he lacks the speed to catch the moving underdog.

"Power" (if it is the only arsenal of a fighter) it is usually overrated. Power should be combined with other qualities to be lethal. Speed and power is a deadly combination. A brawler with power and durability is lethal.

What's next for Algieri?

Top Rank boss Bob Arum said prior to the fight that the winner of Provodnikov-Algieri could be Manny Pacquiao's next opponent. Pacquiao is tentatively set to return in the ring on November 22, in Macau. Algieri believed he has chance to pull an upset against Pacquiao.

In a sold out arena of over 20,000 fans in attendance, Miguel Cotto dominated middleweight top dog Argentine Sergio Martinez to capture WBC title and became the first Puerto Rican to capture titles in four different divisions.

Miguel Cotto dominating Sergio Martinez, at the Madison Square Garden in New York, on Saturday night, may end-up fighting marquee fighters at the 154-160 pound range. Cotto at 33 years old is just heading up to the biggest payday of his career.

Cotto, who now improves his record to 39 wins, 32 by way of stoppage and 4 losses, has rejuvenated career under the direction of trainer Freddie Roach who is also a long-time trainer of Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao.

Here are the three possible next opponents for Miguel Cotto:

1. Gennady Golovkin (29-0, 26 KO's)

Gennady Golovkin is the WBA super world middleweight titlist. A unification bout at Madison Square Garden would be great at 160 pounds. But Cotto who weighed in only at 155 pounds against Martinez might demand for a catch-weight against Golovkin. And may imposed his "A-side, B-side" story in order to get the weight he desires inside the 160 pound middleweight limit.

I think there won't be a problem as GGG has a small frame as a middleweight and can move back down even at 154 pounds. Freddie Roach is confident that Cotto can hang with GGG.

2. Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (43-1, 31 KO's)

Now, that Cotto proved he can knockdown legit middleweight---not just legit---but the middleweight champion, I believed boxing pundits changed their mind about a possible Canelo-Cotto match-up. They thought before that Canelo will kill Cotto if they ever meet in the ring.

Bob Arum likes the idea of Canelo-Cotto match-up. Arum and Oscar de La Hoya had showed signs that they will work again together. De la Hoya has regained back control of Golden Boy Promotions following the resignation of Richard Shaefer. Canelo is the most marketable fighter promoted by Golden Boy.

3. Floyd Mayweather Jr. (46-0, 26 KO's)

A rematch with the pound-for-pound kingpin Floyd Mayweather Jr. would be another possibility, and I don't see any problem, as Cotto is not under exclusive contract on either Top rank or Golden Boy. Cotto has proven to give problems to Floyd in the first fight; bloodied and bruised the undefeated Mayweather during the first fight.

Mayweather is scheduled to get back in the ring in September with an opponent yet to be identified.

Again, Freddie Roach believes Cotto will knockout Floyd in a rematch. Anyway, what would we expect to hear from the person who trains Cotto? Roach predicts like prophet about the outcome of Cotto-Martinez. I don't know if you guys give credit about his prediction if Cotto and Mayweather will ever meet again. Do you believe Cotto will fight any of the above fighters on his next fight?

To mark 25^th Anniversary of Canastota, New York Landmark, 'Golden Boy' Donates $50,000 to Hall of Fame

(CANASTOTA, NY): Capping a legendary athletic career that included 10 titles at six different weight divisions; a gold medal and dozens of championship fights, International "Golden Boy" Oscar De La Hoya was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame today in Canastota, NY.

"Today marks an incredible personal achievement, but it is only the latest milestone that never would have been possible without my family, my friends and, most of all, my fans," De La Hoya said during the ceremony.

De La Hoya, 41, went into the Hall of Fame as part of an All Star class that included rival Felix "Tito" Trinidad and undefeated Super Middleweight World Champion, Joe Calzaghe.

Hours before the official induction ceremony, De La Hoya announced a $50,000 donation to the International Boxing Hall of Fame to mark the landmark's 25^th anniversary.

"Not only are all the legends of our sport honored inside the Hall of Fame, the people of Canastota are so knowledgeable and passionate about boxing, it was my pleasure to play a small part in maintaining the building and grounds in this wonderful part of the country."

De La Hoya touched on numerous topics during his speech including the familial nature of boxing, his legendary matches with a cadre of superstars and the future of the sport.

"We must put aside the egos that have damaged our brand and sullied our reputation. We, the promoters, must stop carrying petty grudges that serve no purpose but to divide our sport. And most important, we must give the fans the fights that they want," De La Hoya said.

Marvin Sonsona evens the score on Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. and captures vacant NABF featherweight title at the sold out Madison Square Garden, New York---the "Mecca of Boxing".

Former WBO super flyweight champion Marvin "Marvelous" Sonsona  had his hands raised after 10 rounds of somewhat rough, ugly but close fight, against the man who handed him, his first career defeat: Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. of Puerto Rico, in the under-card of Miguel Cotto-Sergio Martinez middleweight clash.

The Filipino southpaw started strong in the opening round, and floored Vazquez with hard left to the body. Vazquez took a knee but quickly get up on his feet and get right back to action.

Round 2, was obviously another round for Marvin Sonsona (19-1-1, 15 KO's) as Vazquez tried to recover from the previous round knockdown. And tried also to figure out the more mature and stronger opponent compared to the one he met in 2010.

Sonsona first met Vazquez in 2010, for the vacant WBO super bantamweight title. Vazquez knocked out, the then 19 year old in-experienced Sonsona, in Round 4.

In Round 3, it seemed the 29 year old Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. (23-4-1, 19 KO's) fully recovered from the somewhat liver-punch he took from the previous round and started slipping punches and augment his own attacks and counters.

However, from Round 4 on-wards the fight becomes rough as Sonsona tried to clinched every time Vazquez closes the gap for infighting. It was a busy night for referee Steve Willis.

After the fight,Vazquez expressed his disappointment on Sosona's tactics.

"He's a dirty, rotten fighter. I tried to pressure him. He kept holding. He got in one good punch, the one that knocked me down. I thought I won easily." says a disappointed Vazquez.

In Round 6, the 23 year old Sonsona was deducted a point on each judges scorecards for hitting Vazquez behind the head. This even up the knockdown Sonsona scored in the first round.

In Round 7, Sonsona dazed badly after an accidental headbutt on the face---he went down to the floor! The referee give him time to recover.

In the final round, a rare double take-down happened as both fighters tangled up and went to the floor.

Overall it's a close fight to call. But I have Sonsona winning slightly on my unofficial scorecards as he smartly maneuver to make the fight happen only from outside (wherein he utilized his reach and height advantage) than fighting Vazquez's fight from the inside.

The fight could actually go either way or a draw. And it shows the divided verdict of the judges: two judges had it for Sonsona 96-92 and 96-92 and the third judge had it also at 96-92 for Vazquez.

Both Sergio Martinez and Miguel Cotto came in under the contracted catch-weight of 159 pounds. Martinez  (51-2-2, 38 KO's) weighs in at 158.8lbs. while Cotto (38-4, 31 KO's) weighs in at 155lbs.

The crowd cheers heavily as Cotto make his weight while for Martinez I can hear boos. Now, Martinez understand what is it like fighting in Cotto's "second home" the Madison Square Garden.

In an interview, Martinez said that it is good motivation knocking out Miguel Cotto in his own house.

When Miguel Cotto was asked what is in his mind while on that intense face-off, "I'm ready to work" replied Cotto. Cheers from the crowd erupts when they hear those words from the Puerto Rican champion who aims to be the first Puerto Rican to capture fourth title in as many weight division.

In the main under-card Filipino Marvin Sonsona looks tight and trim who weigh in at the featherweight limit of 126lbs. Wilfredo Vazquez Jr also weighs in at 126lbs. Vazquez-Sonsona is a 12 round featherweight rematch.

Miguel Cotto returns to Madison Square Garden---the arena he calls "home" to face middleweight boss Sergio Martinez of Argentina for the WBC title.

On Saturday night, Transnational Boxing Rankings Board recognized middleweight champion Sergio Martinez, defends his WBC title, against four division titlist, Miguel Cotto at the Madison Square Garden, New York, New York.

In the buildup of this fight, animosity becomes evident to both fighters. There were issues of disrespect. Sergio Martinez (51-2-2, 28 KO's) being the defending champion feels disrespected on Cotto's demands.

In this card's billing, Cotto demanded that his name should come first, although, he's the challenger. This fight is billed Cotto vs. Martinez, which is supposed to be Martinez vs. Cotto, being Martinez as the champion. Maybe to some people or fighters this is no big-deal. But for Martinez he feels disrespected. He branded Cotto a "diva".

Miguel Cotto (38-4, 31 KO's) said, in the program Face-off, hosted by HBO's Max Kellerman that he has been in this "position" before. It's not being who the champion is. But who packs the arena. When Cotto defended his WBO welterweight title against Pacquiao in 2009---that was billed Pacquiao vs. Cotto---wherein he lost via knockout.

Cotto says that Madison Square Garden is his "second home". He fought in the iconic Madison Square Garden eight times. And he has a terrific record of 7wins with only 1 loss. No wonder who packs the arena.

But Martinez wants respect. And he wants to gain respect in the ring come fight night.

The factor I see here for Martinez to win is his size advantage. An old boxing adage: A good big man always beats a good little man.

Sergio has been haunted by knee injuries since his win against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. He's sideline for more than one year. And at 39, he's no longer the same fighter who knocked out cold the taller and bigger Paul Williams in their rematch four years ago. He's power obviously looks diminished against a much bigger Chavez whom he blooded and bruised but unable to stop.

Although, Martinez' speed cope up with bigger and usually slower fighters but against a smaller but faster Cotto, it could be critical.

I think, it boils down to how Martinez will capitalize his size advantage to secure victory. Martinez used to fight much taller opponent. But he beat them with his speed and power. But with his knee issues, against a faster Cotto I think Martinez has serious problems.

I think, Cotto, under the guidance of Freddie Roach, will employ the same strategy that gives Martinez his victories in the ring---fast combinations and stay away in the pocket using foot speed.

I believed Cotto will be much faster than Martinez, so his speed will cruise to a unanimous decision.

Undefeated welterweight prospect Eddie Gomez measured 149 pounds and streakingFrancisco Santana weighed-in at 148.2 pounds for their 10-round ShoBox co-feature bout from Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, Calif.

The 23-year-old Centeno Jr. (20-0, 11 KOs), of Oxnard, Calif., is returning to ShoBox for the first time since a dominating 10-round unanimous decision victory over KeAndre Leatherwood in March of 2013. Now under the tutelage of Eric Brown, trainer of WBO Middleweight World Champion Peter Quillin and former world champion and SHOWTIME analyst Paulie Malignaggi, Centeno Jr. is aiming to take the leap from prospect to contender.

"This guy is definitely dangerous -- late replacements always are. I've underestimated guys before because you might think they haven't had enough time to get ready for the fight, or you might not be ready for the type of style that they bring. 

"But, for this training camp, I feel like we were training for every type of fighter. I had a lot of different sparring partners, such as Ruslan Provodnikov, Sergio Mora, Frankie Gomezand Glen Tapia. They are all different types of fighters and great caliber fighters. It was just great work.

"I know he's an aggressive boxer. He tries to be a little slick; he tries to bring the action and press forward. I feel like I'm prepared for what he has to bring to the table. 

"It's been a year since I had a chance to fight on ShoBox and the last time the guy was talking a big game. I was hoping for a war to give the fans what they wanted, but, unfortunately, he wanted to turn it into a hug-fest. But I think it should be different this time. I think it should be a good fight and I'm looking to make a statement. 

"I'm not calling a knockout because I don't go in there looking for it, but I'm not sure it will go the distance. 

"Everything has been going great with Eric (Brown). The type of style that he brings to the table is awesome. The chemistry is there and everything came together perfectly.

 "Working with world-class fighters like Peter (Quillin) and Paulie (Malignaggi) just ups your level and shows you where you're at. Being able to hang in there with guys like that is an amazing feeling because you know you're at that world-class level. 

"Training with Ruslan (Provodnikov) has been great. The type of pressure that he brings is like no other. He's just straight forward - he'll take all your shots and he's relentless. After becoming accustomed to that type of pressure, I feel like anything this guy brings I'll be ready for. 

"My dad had three heart surgeries and I told him it's just time to hang it up. Training me was really tough on his body and extremely stressful. We both chose Eric Brown together because we both thought he would go well with my style. He knows how to teach his fighter that killer instinct and he knows how to teach fighters to think for themselves. That's what we really liked about him and it's working really well." 

GERARDO IBARRA:

"I was ready and training when we got the call for this fight. We moved from Houston to Los Angeles almost two months ago to get ready for an opportunity like this. I've been steadily training waiting for this chance.

"I came over to Los Angeles for an opportunity like this. I'm just ready to get in there and show what I can do.

 "I wouldn't say he's my toughest test, but this is definitely my biggest opportunity. We'll find out in the ring if he's the biggest test yet.

 "I'm here to surprise people. I'm here to dethrone him. From whatever cloud they have him on, I'm here to bring him down from that. 

"I've been in the ring with a lot of different guys. I was in the ring with the Charlo (Jermell and Jermall) brothers and Brian Vera to help him get ready for the Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. fight. I feel ready; there is nothing I can't handle."

 EDDIE GOMEZ:

"I haven't seen anyone that he's faced that has impressed me or has the potential to actually be in the ring with me. 

"When I saw his record and the guys that he faced, I only saw two fighters that are like me, that are hungry and looking to be world champs: Jermell Charlo and Karim Mayfield. And those are two young guys that he lost to. It just shows you that the guy is used to losing. Off the two losses to Karim and one to Charlo, it shows you that when he had to face a guy who was undefeated and young and hungry, he didn't know what to do. 

"His seven-fight win streak doesn't impress me at all. He fought two guys, Freddy Hernandez, who is on his way out, he's done, and Joachim Alcine, who also is done. They're not in their prime anymore and they aren't hungry for the sport the way that I am. He beat them, yes, but they aren't impressive fighters to me.

 "I don't feel like he's my toughest test. The toughest test for me is when I'm in the gym, when I'm putting in the work and I'm in there training. Even on days when I don't feel like going to the gym, I give it that extra push. Those are my toughest opponents. I wouldn't be here at 16-0 if I had opponents who were tougher than me and I didn't take care of them in the ring. 

"I have a lot of fans back in New York that will be able to watch me on SHOWTIME. My hard work is paying off little by little because now I'm climbing the ladder; now I'm on SHOWTIME. 

"I'm young, but I've been moving along the correct way. I'm moving along at the right pace. I have a lot to learn still, but, before you know it, I'll be ready to fight the champions at the top in maybe four or five months. I'm ready. No more class B fighters, we want those class A fighters, we want that title. 

"If it goes 10 rounds we'll be more than ready. We're here, we came to do our job and get our 17^th victory and go back home happy."

FRANCISCO SANTANA:

"I've been in there with the tougher guys. My three losses were against some of the top guys in their division. Karim Mayfield wasn't undefeated, but he was one of the top contenders. Jermell Charlo, I don't take anything away from him, he's right there close to winning a world title. I can say that I've been matched tough, I've been tested and I know what to expect and how to overcome that. 

"He doesn't have anything I haven't seen before. We're both two fighters with two hands and all it takes is one punch to win the fight. 

"I'm just excited to do what I've been put here to do, and that's to win a world title. This is my journey, it hasn't always been easy, but a win on Friday will put me one step closer. 

"Whether he is tested or untested, right now my will and my determination to keep climbing to the top is above and beyond. I think I'm in a good spot. Obviously he's a pretty young kid and I'm sure he's thinking he's just going to out-power me, but I'm going to prove him wrong tomorrow night. 

"On paper I don't have more power, but I know I can pack a punch. I've faced the bigger guys, junior middleweights and middleweights, so I know that I can end the fight with one punch."

Golden Boy Promotion's Oscar De la Hoya says, Golden Boy Promotions is moving ahead on all fronts.

Oscar de la Hoya, President and co-founder of Golden Boy Promotions issued a brief official statement via press release following the resignation of the company's CEO Richard Schaefer on Monday.

"Golden Boy Promotions is moving ahead on all fronts. We look forward to continuing and expanding our key position in the boxing world and to providing the public with the very best the sport has to offer." Oscar's statement sent to SPB.

Right after Schaefer's resignation, pound-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. whose fights are co-promoted by Golden Boy since securing massive 6-fight, 3-year contract with Showtime has stated that he will no longer work with Golden Boy.

Now, the fighters left with Golden Boy, which has contracts are stars Bernard Hopkins, Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez, and Abner Mares which are not signed by adviser or promoter---whatever you call---Al Haymon.

However, Bernard Hopkins seemed like on the verge of "leaving" also Golden Boy in favor of Richard Schaefer. You may read his statement in an interview with The Sweetscience for you to interpret.

Now, Golden Boy don't have depth in-house fighters to stage major boxing cards. Oscar made amends with his former promoter Top Rank was a right move. But considering his love-hate, hate-love relationship with Bob Arum, Golden Boy's chance to work with fighters inside Bob Arum's fence is somewhat "unstable".

All is not well for Oscar de la Hoya's Golden Promotions (GBP) as boxing's PPV and pound-for-pound kingpin Floyd Mayweather Jr. also leaves GBP.

Almost immediately after Richard Schaefer stepped down as CEO for Golden Boy Promotions on Monday, Floyd Mayweather Jr. also ditches the company.

The boxing community is well aware that although Floyd Mayweather Jr. is co-promoted with Golden Boy Promotions---that because of Richard Schaefer.

Leonard Ellerbe told ESPN.com on Monday when ask if Mayweather will work with Golden Boy Promotions again without Richard Schaefer, he said, "Absolutely not".

However, in a separate interview with RingTV.com Ellerbe is amending the previous comments he made on ESPN.

"The door is open for future business with Golden Boy. The only person that I see in their stable that we can see doing a future fight with where there is big business that would be against 'Canelo' Alvarez."said Ellerbe.

Mayweather-Canelo broke the highest revenue set by Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar de la Hoya and Mayweather Jr. in 2007. De la Hoya-Mayweather sold 2.2 million pay-per-view units ($137 million total revenue) while Mayweather-Canelo sold 2.2 million ($150 million total revenue).

Doing Mayweather-Canelo again is not bad for both camps in business standpoint. So, I'm not surprise if Ellerbe is changing his tone. They are not closing a possibility of rematch as this could be again a sure hit.

Mayweather is set to comeback in the ring on September 13 with an opponent that is yet to be determined.

"The door is open for future business with Golden Boy but as it relates to September 13, we've got a mega-fight coming up and we're in the planning and preparations stages and we've been that way since the May 3 fight was over," said Ellerbe.

Canelo is the one of those boxers that has signed contract agreement with Golden Boy Promotions.

Richard Schaefer, Golden Boy Promotions (GBP) CEO, resigned on Monday, after 12 years at GPB's front sit in a move that will alter current boxing landscape.

In an official statement, here is what Richard Schaefer said:

"After more ten years with Golden Boy, it is time to move on to the next chapter of my career. This decision has required a great deal of personal reflection, but ultimately I concluded that that I have no choice but to leave.

I have succeeded in banking, and I have succeeded in boxing, and I look forward to the next opportunity. I am proud to remain a shareholder, so I have a strong interest in the continued success of the company.

I am proud of what we have accomplished at Golden Boy, but now I look forward to new challenges".  

The split between Richard Schaefer and Golden Boy Promotions owner Oscar de la Hoya has been anticipated. Prior to the Mayweather-Maidana fight there were already reports of power struggle inside the promotion. De la Hoya wanted to take total control of the company.

“I don’t care what it takes. I will end the Cold War for the fans.” De La Hoya told in an interview with RingTV.com.

Under the leadership of Schaefer the alliance of Golden Boy Promotions and Showtime took place. This resulted to a "cold war" they referred to in boxing: HBO-Top Rank alliance and Showtime-GBP.

This is one of the tons of reason why Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquaio is next to impossible to happen.

Now that Schaefer stepped down expect more explosive happening in the coming days in the current boxing model.

Carl Froch put big exclamation mark on the rivalry between him and George Groves on Saturday night's rematch at the Wembley Stadium.

In front of 80,000 lively boxing fans, Carl Froch brutally knocks out George Groves in Round 8 of their rematch. Froch throws a left hook followed by a cracking right hand that landed on Groves left chin. Groves falls instantly. His left leg bends in an ugly position and flattened along with his body to the floor. His leg is in that position for a couple of seconds before it straightened up.

Referee Charlie Fitch didn't bother to count and immediately waived it off. Although, Groves was insensible for few seconds---he could understand the gesture of the referee. He tried to get up. And he did. His lion heart tells him to fight. But his heart didn't get the backing from his body and legs.

The referee didn't allow Groves to absorbed more damaging punishment from the poisonous "Cobra". And there's no controversy with the stoppage this time.

Before the stoppage, Groves is out-boxing the champion from the outside. I think he's well ahead of the scorecards prior to the stoppage. But in boxing one punch can turn everything around.

"But sometimes in professional boxing it only take one punch… one punch can be all the difference and all it needs". explained Froch.

However, a granite chin could also be a big difference. Groves has been landing some clean right hooks to Froch's chin. But Froch has unbelievable ability to absorbed those shots to the chin. This is what separates him from this fight---his iron chin.

Froch was calm and composed throughout the fight and he said that it was part of his adjustment.

"I was very calm and composed like I said I would be. I used my boxing. I tried to establish my jab, but George Groves is more quicker than me, he's very fast. If you time shots correctly, you know, time beat speed." said Froch of the adjustment he made for this fight.

Groves talk about the knockdown and congratulates Froch of the victory. I like the respect they showed towards each other after the fight in-spite bashing each other prior to the fight.

"Yeah I'm fine… It's boxing you know… he caught me, I went down. But I will come back and be better and stronger." said Groves when asked about the knockdown.
