Morales was part of a panel discussion about the Pacquiao-Thurman fight this Saturday night at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada.

Morales was surprised Pacquiao still fighting in the elite level despite the wars he's been into. Morales and Pacquiao have one of the best trilogies in boxing. Morales beat Pacquiao in their first fight in 2005. Pacquiao beat Morales in their next two fights the following year.

Well, who will not be surprised why Pacquiao still fighting at 40. Pacquiao already is a senator in the Philippines. He has his carved his name in boxing. I mean, what else needed to be proven in boxing?

Pacquiao (61-7-2, 39 KOs) loves to prove something that others normally don't believe.

When he fought De La Hoya, Pacquiao proved that a good little man can beat a good big man. It should be the other way around right?

When he got two successive losses in 2012; a split decision loss to Tim Bradley, and a stunning 6 round knockout loss to his rival Mexico's Juan Manuel Marquez, everyone thought Pacquiao will never be the same fighter again. Well, he came back strong defeating Brandon Rios.

This time Pacquiao wanted to prove that he can still do it at the elite level even at 40 years old. Can he prove it? This question will be answered on Saturday night.

The official time of the stoppage was at the 2:40 mark in the seventh round.

Pulev (27-1, 14 KO) was horribly cut by a huge right hand from Dinu in the fourth round.

In the first three rounds, Pulev was taking his time with his offense as he sizes up Dinu. The cut, Pulev got in the fourth round causes the alarm. If the fight will be stopped due to the cut, it will be in favor of the challenger as the cut was caused by a punch.

In the fifth round, Pulev stepped up his offense walking down Dinu with his jab, right-hand combination.

In the seventh round, Pulev scored a knockdown but eventually hit Dinu while he's down. The referee ruled the knockdown as a legitimate knockdown, but deducted a point for hitting Dinu while down on the floor.

The fight went on and Dinu was down again. He barely beat the count. He went up at the count of nine. The referee allowed the fight to continue. At the final minute of round seven, Dinu was down again and the referee had seen enough and stop the fight.

To Dinu's credit, he was more than a willing challenger. Dinu (18-2, 14 KOs) just didn't came to fight. He came in to win. His efforts just fell short.

With the victory, Pulev still in the mix at the heavyweight division. He would probably still got a shot at heavyweight top names, Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder. Note that the only loss of Pulev was with Wladimir Klitschko and that was in 2014.

After the fight, Pulev was interviewed by Las Vegas Sports Daily reporter, Jennifer Ravalo. Ravalo's last question was Pulev feels he deserves a shot at Tyson Fury. To the surprise of Ravalo, Pulev kissed her on the lips without any cue or whatsoever after he answered the question with a resounding yes. Pulev, then says thank you and walks away from the camera, leaving Ravalo in disbelief.

In a tweet, Ravalo was asked if she has something to say or add regarding the kiss. She says, "Lil embarrassing. Strange".

Soto, (69-9-2, 37 KOs) looking sharp with his combination punching was able to pull a unanimous decision victory over Brandon Rios for the junior middleweight contest.

The scores were 119-111, 118-112, and 118-112.

It was a fun fight, watching two former lightweight titlists fighting far way north from their best division and fast their prime too. But the entertainment value never faded as the two were battle-tested warriors on their rights.

In the end, it was Soto who got the nod of three judges. He was able to bank the first few early rounds of the fight. He utilized his experience well throwing uppercuts that connected at will to a surging and leaning forward march of Rios.

The combination punching of Soto was effective as Rios looking for an opportunity to counter moving forward. Soto fired combinations ranging from 3 to 5 punch combo and then disengage. His strategy would force Rios to reset, move again forward, met again with combination, and then Soto disengage.

To his credit, Rios (35-5-1, 26 KOs) never back down, continued to surge forward. He absorbed the best shots Soto can muster and had some few moments in the ring in the later rounds. He was very game to match Soto in a toe-to-toe action. He was in the pocket all night to engage but came up short.

Rios had great plans for his return as he had his eye on another world title. He promised her daughter to bring another title belt. But for now, he has to go back to square one and check what are his options.

Rios was successful at the lightweight division where he used to bully opponents. As he climbed north of the lightweight division his power was simply not there.

With the win, Soto at 38 years old could be somehow got some boost in this stage of his boxing career, but of course, he's really on the other side of the hill. And could probably have few fights left. With his performance, could probably pull one big fight before really calling it a day, depending on the outcome.

Duno (19-1, 15 KOs) was worried about Dhanda who was lying unconscious for a few seconds. This was after he landed an overhand right on Dhanda's jaw in the second round.

The over-matched Dhanda (7-2, 1KO) was down in the first round once. Then he was knockdown again in the second round and ultimately stopped in the same round.

In the first round, Duno controlled the ring and landing the heavier blows at will to the body and head of the Indian opponent. Duno landed a hard counter that sends Dhanda down. Dhanda was able to beat the count and continue. Duno landed another hard shot to the head that forced Dhanda to backpedal wobbly. Duno sensed the first-round stoppage and tried to stop his wobbly opponent. Dhanda held his ground tried to fight back and survived the round.

In the second round, Duno scored another knockdown and eventually landed a bombshell that stopped Dhanda. It was a terrifying shot as Dhanda was literally out even before he hits the canvas. Dhanda was knockout real cold. The way he was dropped looks a resemblance to a Juan Marquez knockout of Manny Pacquiao.

The KO shot was too scary and the referee made the right decision for not bothering to execute the mandatory count, immediately signaled for ringside paramedics to come for Dhanda's help.

Still undefeated, Keith Thurman needed to brace himself up to survive a crucial Round 7 to be able to hear the final bell and get the decision against a formidable opponent in Josesito Lopez.

It was a scary Round 7 for Thurman (29-0, 22 KOs) who was doing well in the first six rounds; outboxing, outmaneuvering, tagging Lopez with hard counters, and he eventually won those rounds.

Thurman has been out of the ring for the entire 2018. 22 months out of the ring to be exact. This is due to an injury he suffered from his last fight. His last fight was in March 2017. A split decision victory over Danny Garcia.

Although, you will not be able to notice significant ring rust on Thurman's performance as he looks sharp and precise. However, I noticed a defensive flaw. Thurman chose to use his legs and tried to fire back while he got hurt. The best possible defense is to slow the pace of the fight, hold and regain footing.

Lopez, (36-8, 19 KOs) to his credit, fought well and did what is expected of him. I expected that he would be outmaneuvered, out-boxed, and outfoxed by a technically superior opponent. But I also expect that at any point in time, he will land a solid shot that would hurt Thurman. Lopez landed the supposed to be game-changing shot, but he was short to capitalize it. He was not able to close it. Thurman was able to survive the round and pull off the decision victory.

After the successful return from a long layoff, Thurman showed interest in fighting Manny Pacquiao next. Pacquiao recently won a unanimous decision over Adrien Broner.

"I would most likely definitely take the Manny Pacquiao fight this year," Thurman said. "I feel good. That was a beautiful fight. I'm ready to fight wherever Pacquiao wants it," says Thurman.

Judges Tim Cheatham and Glenn Feldman had it 116-112 and Dave Moretti 117-111 in favor of the Pacman.

Pacquiao, (61-7-2, 39 KOs) doesn't have much of a problem handling the man who calls himself "The Problem." He was able to land the cleaner shots and hurt Broner on two occasions. The fighting senator hurt Broner in the 7th and 9th Rounds.

Broner, (33-4-1, 24 KOs) on the other hand doesn't want to risk so much as he contended to focus more on defense. He tried to fend off Pacquiao's attacks and threw less output landing very few of them.

The funny thing is that Broner was so confident that he won the fight.

"I beat him," Broner said with full confidence. "Everybody out there knows I beat him. I controlled the fight. He was missing. I hit him clean more times. I beat him."

Pacquiao, with the win, could be in a potential rematch with rival Floyd Mayweather Jr. although there's no immediate word coming from Floyd who was present at ringside during the fight indicating a rematch.

Well, it's not the right time I believe to say such things though. Of course, they have to listen and feel if there's boxing fans' interest in a rematch at this point.

Broner (33-3-1, 24 KOs) stepped on the scale first and registered at 146.5 pounds, he looked strong, in good shape, and ready to go tonight at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas.

Pacquiao (60-7-2, 39 KOs) stepped on the scale and registered, (as always below the welterweight limit) 146 pounds. He looked in tip-top shape and ready to rumble.

Cano, (32-7-1, 22 KOs) was all over Linares from the beginning of the fight. It is obvious that Cano was the bigger fighter and so he imposed his advantage early on resulting in three knockdowns and thereafter the referee stopped the fight.

The official time of the stoppage was 2:48 seconds of the opening round.

The first knockdown was a result of a clean right that landed on the neck of Linares as Cano was swinging hard at Linares.

Linares (45-5, 28 KOs) managed to beat the count and went on to fight. Cano was determined to finish the fight early sensing the vulnerability of Linares at that point.

Cano then landed a two-punch combo with the last one landed on Linares' jaw that sent him hard to the floor. The second knockdown really raises the alarm for Linares.

Linares got back up and traded punches with the very determined challenger and then boom! A loaded big right hand landed on Linares' ear that sent him back again to the floor for the third time.

Since the three-knockdown rule isn't in effect the referee let the fight continue as Linares was able to bet the count.

Cano yet again landed a clean shot that staggered Linares to the ropes prompting the referee to step in and stopped the contest.

“He surprised me with the big right hand. He had power in his punch.
It was so different. Five pounds is so different. But before at 135, I was feeling better but I moved to 140 because it was too hard to make. The weight is hard. His body is bigger. He has an amazing punch.”

“I’ve got to think about it. I have to take some time and talk to my team to see if I should go back down to 135 lbs. or stay at 140 lbs. But most important is my health so I will take time and decide where to go next.”

Cano was happy and contended about his upset victory over Linares.

“I am happy, I am very content. All of my career I have wanted a victory of this magnitude against a fighter of this caliber like Jorge Linares. And what better way to win it than in this fashion. Today in the best moment of my life and career, it was an honor to fight a three-time champion in Jorge Linares.”

Nietes joined fellow Filipino champions Manny Pacquiao and Nonito Donaire in the list of 4-division champions or more.

Nietes (42-1-5, 23 KOs), became champion at the minimum weight (105 pounds limit), light flyweight (108 pounds limit), flyweight (112 pounds limit and at super flyweight (115 pounds limit).

“I’m really happy that I got my four-division world championship this New Year. I showcased the fans a great fight and I am so thankful that they liked my performance,” said Nietes.

It was a tough fight that no one seemed to back up. But it looks to me that no one also would like to press hard out of respect with each other.

Nietes was there in the pocket the entire fight waiting for Ioka to press harder. He was able to avoid Ioka's body shots and came back with a counter uppercut.

“His punches were not solid and it seemed he’s afraid to attack me. I was able to evade his body shots and hit him with uppercuts as he got closer so he changed his style,” he said.
