Cuadras stops Mabait in Six

Carlos Cuadras retained his title after stopping late replacement Marvin Mabait. The 26 year old Cuadras scored a knockdown in Round 5. The referee issue a mandatory ten count on Mabait after ruling out that it was the ropes that keep Mabait up.

In the sixth, again Cuadras dropped Mabait with a right hand early in the round. Mabait got up but was floored again. The referee had seen enough and stopped the contest.

The official time of the stoppage, 36 seconds remaining in the sixth round.

With the win Cuadras improves his record to 31-0-1 and 25 KO's.

Former lineal flyweight champion Sonny Boy Jaro was supposed to be the original opponent for Cuadras. But Jaro has some problems entering the US.
