Pedraza defeats Farenas for 130 pound title eliminator

Undefeated Puerto Rican, Jose Pedraza (19-0, 12 KO's) trims down the chance of Filipino hard-hitting, Michael Farenas to land another world title shot. Pedraza defeats Farenas for the IBF title eliminator held in Coliseo Pedrín Zorrilla, Hato Rey, in Puerto Rico.

"Jose Pedraza, delivered the most impressive performance of his career to date…" writes Jake Donovan of Boxingscene.com. According to Donovan, Pedraza was "in control" of the fight.
Pedraza was well in control of the fight, never showing any fear against the dangerous Farenas, who has upset the apple cart more than once in his career." Donovan wrote.

Pedraza defeats Farenas for 130 pound title eliminator Farenas (39-5-4, 31 KO's) has been on the road fighting with one thing in his mind - to land another world title match. He's been in a world title fight twice. But he was defeated and denied the world title that very professional fighter is aiming for, apart from bigger paycheck.

In 2012, Farenas fought to a draw against defending WBA super featherweight champion Takashi Uchiyama. The champion Uchiyama retained his title. And in the succeeding fight, Farenas was knockout by former undefeated Cuban, Yuriorkis Gamboa.

If Farenas won, he would have landed title shot against unbeaten super featherweight titlist Rances Berthelemy. But with the defeat, the 30 year old Farenas' chance for another world title shot is slim. He needs to go back in a long line of contenders vying for the title shot.
