In a recent tweet, Amir Khan said that he sees a problem with Adrien Broner fighting Manny Pacquiao. He told, referring to Broner "picking fights you know you can't win."

Khan (33-4, 20 KOs) suggested to Broner to have an easy fight first and then went on saying that he's done with Pacquiao first then Broner picks his leftovers then hashtag Maidana, Malignaggi, and Molina.

Khan won against Paul Malignaggi, Marcos Maidana, and Carlos Molina. Broner also won against Paul Malignaggi and Carlos Molina after Khan defeated them, but Broner lost to Marcos Maidana in a decision.

Khan has been chasing big fights against Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao but none of these fights materialize.

Pacquiao vs Khan was on preliminary talks earlier but it fell apart and then boom! An announcement is made by Golden Boy Promotions that Khan is fighting Alvarez. No one saw it coming. Khan suffered a devastating knockout loss to Alvarez.

Meanwhile, UK fans wanted an all British showdown between Kell Brook and Amir Khan, but it seemed Amir isn't interested. Brook also surprised the boxing world when he fought Gennady Golovkin where he suffered the same fate as Khan. A devastating loss.

What do you think about why Mayweather and Pacquiao not fighting Amir Khan?

Contrary to earlier report that Pacquiao-Khan will be held in April 2017, Michael Koncz told Yahoo Sports that it is decided to move it to May 19 to have time to promote the fight properly. The decision was made after a two-hour meeting with promoter Bob Arum on Tuesday.

“We decided to move it to May 19 here and May 20 in the United Emirates so we’d have time to promote it properly and make it a huge success. I have to talk to both fighters to get them to approve going in May instead of in April. I don’t think that will be any problem," says Koncz.

I really have a gut feeling that the fight will not push through in April as there's not enough time to promote and prepare the fight.

Well, after waiting for years for this fight to happen in the Middle East finally it will be here. This is what exactly the OFW's, especially in the GCC area, happen. They wanted to see their kabayan and idol Manny Pacquiao fight against an equally prominent opponent in Amir Khan in the GCC.

Although it has to be known yet where exactly in the United Arab Emirates the fight will be held. Most likely, it could be in Dubai. In the past, most of the boxing matches were held there. Two of the popular Pinoy Pride series were successfully held in Dubai before.

If you are going to look at it, Pacquiao-Khan would really do well on PPV compared to earlier reported opponent Jeff Horn of Australia.

"This is what we are waiting for, to see Pacquiao fight in UAE. We are very excited! Hopefully, it will push through," says Alan, 38, OFW in Dubai.

On Pacquiao's latest post on twitter, he mentioned that "my team and I are in negotiations with Amir Khan for our next fight" and "further announcement coming soon."

It was earlier reported that Pacquiao will face Jeff Horn in Australia. But it seemed that Pacquiao was not happy with the guaranteed purse and shifted his attention to Amir Khan. Of course, Khan is far more bankable compared to Horn. Reports also floating around that the potential fight could be held in Dubai.

In the past, every time Pacquiao planned for next fight, a lucrative Dubai offer keeps floating but nothing materializes so far.

Being an OFW in the Middle East, I really support this fight to happen in Dubai. I think Manny should fight in Dubai before retiring in boxing. He has lots of OFW supporters in the Middle East and besides, Khan also has a strong fan base there.

Earlier, Pacquiao was reported talking about another rematch with another rival Juan Manual Marquez for a fight in the Philippines before retiring. He's hoping for a Philippine government backing for a Marquez fight to materialize. Pacquiao's plans to fight again in front of his countrymen. Pacquiao last fought in the Philippines in 2006, beating Oscar Larios.

But Marquez is not interested to share a boxing ring with Pacquiao anymore. Well, a Dubai fight, which is home also of many Filipinos is a good alternative venue.

Meanwhile, Amir Khan has long been pushing for big time fight. He was challenging both Mayweather and Pacquiao in the past but was ditch twice and ended up fighting Saul Canelo Alvarez to the surprise of the boxing world. Khan lost to Canelo in a brutal one-punch knockout.

Pacquiao won his last two fights after losing to his rival Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2015.

Mexican star Saul Canelo Alvarez retained his lineal world middleweight championship, knocking out UK's Amir "King" Khan at the new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas Nevada, Saturday night.

Canelo Alvarez (47-1-1 KO 43) admitted that Amir Khan (31-4-0 KO 19) is a fast fighter and things would be complicated in the beginning. But he's confident coming in that everything will come to his favor.

"He's a fast fighter, and I knew things would be complicated in the beginning, but I knew they would come to my favor as the fight went on," said Canelo.

Canelo having difficulty finding his range early on in the fight and was swinging wildly with his vaunted left hook. But in the end, his power carried the night and took over knocking out Amir cold in the sixth round with a hard right cross after faking a left hook to the body.

Canelo insisted that he have more qualities in the ring contrary to what people knew about him being a power puncher.

"People have known me only for my power. I have many more qualities in the ring, and I showed that. I think people saw more of me tonight. Someone that comes into box gives you more trouble and someone that comes right in is a little easier to fight," said Canelo.

After struggling to find his range in the first five rounds, Canelo Alvarez caught Amir Khan with a vicious right hand that knocked the UK challenger out cold.

In the first five rounds, Amir Khan (31-4-0 KO 19) really fought a very disciplined fight following religiously the perfect game plan. He was able to land fast combinations snapping back Canelo's head few times. He managed to maintain distance and fire combination from the outside while constantly moving and changing directions.

Canelo (47-1-1 KO 43) struggled to find his range in the first five rounds. He's picking his shots to the point that he's so economical. He's banking way too heavily on power shots that he's timid to unleash combinations. He's a little too wild with his vaunted left hook, missing a wildly few of them inside five rounds.

In the sixth, power pot-shooting paid off for Canelo. He faked a left hook, got Khan's attention, and came up with a vicious right hook while stepping in and landed right on the button that Khan never saw it coming. The moment that shot landed, I know Khan will never make it to the next round.

The official time of the stoppage:  2:37 in the sixth round.

Lineal middleweight champion of the world Saul "Canelo" Alvarez will defend the title against UK's Amir "King" Khan at the new T-Mobile Arena, in Las Vegas Nevada. The match can be seen live on HBO PPV and also available on internet PPV.

When I read the press release from Golden Boy Promotions about this fight in February, I'm shocked! I said what? The last time I checked Khan fought at welterweight against Chris Algieri almost a year ago. There were no reports whatsoever that he struggled the weight limit of 147 pounds at welterweight.

After Khan won a decision versus Algieri, he was chasing for a Floyd Mayweather Jr. bout. But Floyd has always been turning down Khan's challenge and instead fought Andre Berto in September.

Former MW champion Miguel Cotto took on Canelo in November, which Canelo won (partly controversial though) and took the lineal middleweight title. Still, no word came out about a Canelo-Khan fight.

In early 2016, Khan is gunning for a Manny Pacquiao fight. Pacquiao lost to Mayweather in May 2015 and was staged for one last fight before retiring. Pacquiao dumped Khan and instead chose a Bradley rematch. And then... boom! the news broke... Canelo vs Khan for the middleweight championship of the world!

Well, I'll make my prediction here short. We all knew that this fight of course is about speed vs power. It is clear from the beginning that Canelo has the advantage in size and power, while Khan has the advantage in speed.

Now the bottom line here is how these two men capitalize their advantage/s towards each other. A stronger and powerful Canelo is of course ineffective if he can not catch the faster, quicker Khan. So if Canelo can effectively cut the ring down and corner Khan and unleashes his power bombs... Bingo! End of the story.

But also if the quicker, faster Khan can utilize the entire ring the whole night and maintains a disciplined fight throwing fast combination, go out from harms way before Canelo retaliates then he'll win by decision.

So it's a matter of proper execution on those advantages. And the one who executes well will win.

Now, who do you think will execute well?

Now here comes the overall boxing skills and game plan. For me, both Khan and Canelo have sound boxing skills. What I think will play a major factor here is their tendencies inside the ring that will of course influence their execution.

Khan has the tendency to trade it when he's hurt. In his two knockout defeats, Khan bravely or shall I say stupidly traded with punches to Prescott and Garcia when he was hurt after a knockdown. Of course, the wisest thing to do there is to clinch as much as you can till the cobwebs are gone. I don't mind the referee deduct points as long as I can recover and fight another round than instantly KOed.

Well, I don't see Khan here not being hurt when hit cleanly by Canelo in this fight, and then he'll resort to his tendencies.

So I've got Canelo by knockout in round 8.

 

Lineal middleweight champion Saul Canelo Alvarez and former world titleholder Amir Khan tipped the scales outside the brand new T-Mobile Arena, in Las Vegas Nevada ahead of their 12-round championship Saturday night.

Both men hit the catch-weight mark at 155 pounds. Canelo looked ripped and cut as usual and ready to go. Khan on the other side looked fine at 155, not looking bloated or whatsoever moving up two weight classes above his last fight's weight.

A photograph of Khan taken during the photo ops for the fight promo became an internet meme, which showed him bulking up way too much. But during the weigh-in, Khan looked natural with the added weight he put on. However, it's expected that during fight night Canelo would re-hydrate more than can could and will be the bigger stronger guy.

Khan, on the other hand, will be banking heavily on his speed and overall boxing ability to negate Canelo's power.

Although there is still enough time for Manny Pacquiao to prepare for his next fight, Bob Arum showed concern about his April fight card. He mentioned in an interview that with or without Pacquaio Top Rank's scheduled fight card on 9th April will push through.

The frontrunners for Manny Pacquiao's next opponent are British star Amir Khan, American Timothy Bradley Jr., Terrence Crawford, and Adrien Broner.

Why until this point, was Pacquiao still unable to choose whom to fight?

Here's my take.

Well, Pacquiao, as we all know, is gunning for a higher political position in the Philippines. During one of his interviews, he mentioned that if he wins as a senator in May national elections -- the fight in April will be his last, and he will retire for good to focus on his duties as a senator.

With the elections happening in May 2016, a Pacquiao victory in April 2016 would drum up his political campaign. However, it should not be just a mere victory. He should win this fight in an impressive style. It should be, at the very least, a knockout victory.

Apart from that, Pacquiao should not just merely fight a beatable opponent. It should be an opponent that somehow enhances his legacy. So, the question is: Who could be this opponent be?

I believed until now Manny Pacquiao and his team were still not able to figure out the perfect opponent.

Amir Khan, as expected, as predicted, wins against Chris Algieri. But in a totally different way. It's not one way traffic. It's not dominating, though it's a convincing win. Khan earned the win the hard way for their welterweight clash at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Spike TV.

From the get-go Khan, started with the right foot and everything went well and won the first three rounds. He’s throwing fast combinations and then disengaged.

In the fourth round, Algieri, somehow sensing he lost the first three rounds, pumped up his offense accelerator and started pressuring Khan. He landed some solid right hand counters that Khan felt but obviously not hurt.

After the fight, Khan (31-3, 19 KO) admits and says he “had to change it up and go to plan B”. He’s surprised for sure. Algieri was not the Algieri that defeated Ruslan Provodnikov or the Algieri Manny Pacquiao defeated in Macau.

But Khan’s adjustment to an offense-minded Algieri worked out. He landed more precise shots, creating angles and fired fast combinations. The judges’ got it right to the tune of: 15-113, 117-111, and 117-111.

Khan reiterates again his desire to fight Mayweather. “I'm the No. 1 WBC contender, Mayweather's the champion, let's make it happen’ says Khan.

With Khan’s performance tonight, I think Khan proves he has the ability to adjust his style in real time. He adapted to Algieri’s forward style, which I believed he’s not trained mainly for.

Adjustment in real time is another essential skill Khan should add to his armament, if he ever dances with Money in the same ring in September.

In Showtimes's featured bout, Amir Khan (30-3, 19 KO's) pulls out a dominant win over Devon Alexander (26-3, 14 KO's) during their 12 round welterweight showdown at the MGM Grand.

Khan who is a former lightweight champion has been the more accurate fighter, out landing Alexander in all punch stats. He's hand speed and combination punching was too much for Alexander to handle. Khan landed 54 percent of his power punches compared to Alexander's 32 percent. Khan landed 43 percent of total punches he thrown to Alexander's only 20 percent.

Khan's dominant victory almost a shutout on the scorecards. The scores were 119-109, 118-110 and 120-108.

The stake is big for the winner of this fight. Being the winner, Khan could be Floyd's next opponent, if Mayweather's Pacquiao fight negotiation failed.

"I really believe I earned my shot against the best fighter in the world, which is Floyd Mayweather," Khan said. "I believe he'll have problems with my speed, movement and accuracy. I'm going to leave it to my team and let's hope we get that fight."

Alexander had no excuses of the fight's outcome. He said that Khan was the "better man tonight".

"He was the better man tonight," Alexander said. "My coach told me to get off and I wasn't getting off. I could have caught him I just didn't do it tonight. I was supposed to follow the game plan, I was moving good but I just couldn't move forward and get off."
