Roger Mayweather passes away, he was 58

Floyd Mayweather Jr's uncle and trainer Roger Mayweather passed away at 58.

Roger played a crucial role in shaping the undefeated career of Floyd Mayweather Jr.  As a boxer, he held a world title at 130 pounds in 1983. He started his professional boxing career at age 20 and accumulated a record of 59 wins, out of which; 35 of those wins came from inside the distance, 13 losses, and no draw.

Roger's first pro fight was in 1981 against Andrew Ruiz, which he won by TKO. His last fight was in 1999 against Javier Francisco Mendez, which he won via majority decision.

Roger has deteriorating health for years and in 2015 Floyd talk about it.

"My uncle Roger Mayweather has lost a lot of memory from the sport of boxing," Floyd said ... "He's only in his 50s, but it seems like he's an old man in his 80s." [TMZ]

According to TMZ, they were told that Floyd was deeply emotional about Roger's passing.

Earlier also Floyd's ex-girlfriend and mother of his three kids, Josie Harris was found dead Tuesday in a car parked in Valencia, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner confirmed Wednesday.

Money vs Manny II in December?

Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr. crossed path with Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao in Japan and the undefeated Mayweather announces he's coming back to fight Pacquiao. Both men were attending a concert in Japan.

“I’m coming back to fight Manny Pacquiao this year. Another nine-figure pay-day on the way. I’m going to be back in December,” said Mayweather.

Pacquiao replied and said, "I have the belt."

Mayweather answered, “I don’t want to hear about your shoulder been hurt.”

So boxing fans, are you excited about it, or you still remember the amount you shell out for the first fight?

Well, for me I don't mind watching these aging fighter fight again, but at a lower cost. I think the entertainment value is still there for as long as Mayweather is willing to engage like the way he fought Maidana the first fight.

Against all odds: The Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs Conor McGregor spectacle

With eyes closed, I can tell you, of course, who will win between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor. Obviously, it's... ahh... Do I need to mention it? That is because the fight is in the boxing ring. Not only that, if you look at everything on each guy's ledger all point to Mayweather's favor.

First, if we look at Conor's record in boxing at Boxrec it says triple "0". In Arabic, they called it "bateek". Boxing debutante actually. Okay fine, let's look at Conor's MMA record. The UFC superstar's MMA record as per mixmartialarts.com is 22-3-0 (Win-Loss-Draw). The undefeated Mayweather's boxing record per boxrec.com is 49-0-0, 26 KOs (Win-Loss-Draw). Conor's wins not even surpassed the numbers of Floyd's KO victories. But of course, if the fight is in the cage, I'll bet on McGregor.

Actually, it's a monotony to point out things why Mayweather will win on Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas because I'm not alone here. The boxing community I believe is unanimous in its prediction.

But well, it's not a reason for me not to watch it. But not a good reason to buy a PPV though. We all know exactly, what is the outcome. But of course, we want to see how it happens. I'm not belittling Connot here, but, you know, the fight is in the boxing ring. All respect to Conor, he's a good MMA fighter. He's just fighting in a different sport and the best in boxing.

It would be a spectacle of course that goes down into history. Two different combat sports stars meet in the boxing ring. I like to see a rematch in the cage to be fair in MMA. It will be exciting to see if Conor forgets that he's inside a boxing ring and start kicking Mayweather. Well, heavy penalties will be imposed if Conor kicks Mayweather.

Okay... that's all folks! Enjoy the match on Saturday night.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Connor McGregor working on a possible match this summer

A bizarre report surfacing during my usual Friday day off from work in this oil rich region, says that Floyd Mayweather Jr. is on the verge of agreeing a mega-fight with UFC superstar Connor McGregor. I said what? Oh really?

Currently retired, but hinting for an imminent comeback possibly this summer, Mayweather reportedly on the verge of agreeing on billion mega-fight with UFC superstar Connor McGregor according to Thesun.co.uk.

Look... the sport really got me surprise several times of unlikely announcement that no one really sees it coming. Last time, the boxing world were in total shock when Saul Canelo Alvarez vs Amir Khan was announced. Khan moved two weight classes to challenge Canelo Alvarez for the middleweight championship of the world this Saturday. What completely made it bizarre is that both men are not middleweight at all and agreed at a catch weight.

Well enough has been said about Canelo-Khan, and here we go again stunned with another report although there's no official confirmation that indeed these two super star in two separate combat sport fight.

But anyhow if we look at it, it is possible. We all know that Connor already called out Floyd for a boxing match. This after Floyd made a comment on McGregor regarding how they were perceived by fight fans with regards to their trash talking persona. The comment didn't set well on McGregor.

Aside from that, McGregor also has no clear place in the UFC now. His rematch with Nate Diaz at UFC 200 was dropped for his refusal to attend press and promotional duties for the build up of the rematch.

No surprise, McGregor would grab the opportunity to fight Floyd Mayweather if it means multi-million dollar payday. But the thing is, if this is on the boxing ring... not in the octagon... he would be in for another L on his record.

More signs on Floyd's ossible comeback

More and more signs were coming up of a possible Floyd Mayweather Jr's come back in the ring.

During the latest PBC fight card on FOX featuring one of Floyd's fighters, super middleweight titleholder Badou Jack, he hinted of a possible comeback.

"As of right now, some crazy numbers have been thrown my way -- upwards, of course, of nine figures. But I'm truly blessed beyond belief, and I really don't know what we're going to do. But right now, I'm really happy being on this side helping our fighters," Mayweather said.

He admitted that he's been talking to CBS and Showtime. "I've talked to CBS and SHO, sometimes you never know, Mayweather said. This is his first hint on coming back. Here's a clip of that interview, click here.

A couple of interviews earlier, Mayweather maintained that he's happy about being retired. He said that he's earning "6-figure" monthly from his investments.

It was also reported that Mayweather Productions filed for trademarks to "TMT 50" and "TBE 50" on April 21 according to ESPN.com's Darren Rovell. The US Patent and Trademark website confirms the filings.

So it looks like the preparations for his comeback is in place. Expect the official announcement coming soon. But the interesting question is who he will fight? Spence Jr.?... Garcia?... Pacquiao?... Golovkin?
