On the Donaire vs Vetyeka undercard results, Nicholas Walters retains title wrecking Vic Darchinyan in Round 5.  Evgeny Gradovich wins by a unanimous decision after going to the floor against Alexander Miskirtchian.

Nicholas Walters (24-0, 20 KOs) retains title and remains undefeated after he knockout the former 112-pound king Vic Darchinyan (39-7-1, 28 KOs) in Round 5. Early in Round 2 Walters caught Darchinyan with a short right upper cut that knocks down the challenger.

Prior to the second round knockdown, Vic Darchinyan (39-7-1, 28 KO's 28) was taunting Walters to open up, as Walters cover up high with both gloves. But then Darchinyan falls on a trap: a hard uppercut that caught him square up! Darchinyan's legs went up in the air with that uppercut.

The start of an end came in Round 5; Walters lands a left hook that wobble Darchinyan. Walters followed up with another left hook to the body and head that sends Darchinyan to the floor again! Darchinyan bit the mandatory eight count but still too shaky.

Nicholas Walters won (24-0, 20 KO's) sensing his man is ready for picking, rushes towards Darchinyan and finished the job. Darchinyan stayed down for a couple of minutes and help rushed in the ring.

I think that was it for the terrific career of Darchinyan who has had excellent run in the lighter division---especially the 112-pound weight class.

Evgeny Gradovich UD12 Alexander Miskirtchian

Evgeny Gradovich (19-0, 9 KO’s) retains his IBF featherweight title in chess-match with Alexander Miskirtchian (24-3-1, 9 KO’s). But Gradovich is always one move ahead in every maneuver Miskirtchian applied in the ring. The champion was able to out-fox and outwitted the challenger round after round.  In Round 3, Miskirtchian was cut caused by a head butt.

Everything was going well for Gradovich but all of the sudden in Round 6; Mirskitchian dropped him with a left jab that came in at the right moment and landed at the right place. Gradovich caught in the chin with his feet so squared up to sustain the impact. But the knockdown didn’t have enough damage.

Gradovich continued to cruise to victory in the succeeding rounds and won on the scores of 117-110, 117-110 and 118-110.

Rex Tso UD10 Ratchasak Kokietgym

Rex Tso (10-0-2, 6 KO's) survived after floored twice in the third round by his opponent from Thailand Ratchasak Kokietgym (22-3-1, 10 KO's). Tso went down with a left hand and then again by a right hand from Kokietgym. Tso went back into serious business in the succeeding rounds and won by unanimous decision.

Ik Yang KO1 Geisler Ap

Ik Yang (14-0, 9 KO's) made a quick work for his Indonesian opponent knocking out Geisler Ap (3-2, 2 KOs) in the very first round and the Cotai Arena crowd went wild. Explosive performance from Yang from a highly over-match opponent.

Chris Avalos TKO8 Yasutaka Ishimoto

Chris Avalos, now improved his record to 24-2, 18 KO's was well ahead on the scorecards: 70-62, 68-64, 70-62, when he knocked out Yasutaka Ishimoto, now dropped 24-7, 7 KO's in round 8 of their - IBF junior featherweight eliminator. The official time of the stoppage 44 seconds of round 8.

Darchinyan had long been waiting for this rematch to happen since he lost to Donaire in 2007. But it took six years before this rematch to finally materialize. Darchinyan was 31 years old when he lost his IBF flyweight title to Donaire via 5th round TKO. Now Darchinyan 37 while Donaire is 31.

In the seven years gap, Darchinyan lost four out of 16 fights. These losses were all by decision. If Darchinyan have hard time moving on to any of that loses in his career, I guess that would be the TKO loss he suffered from the Filipino Flash.

For Darchinayan, Nonito was just the brother of Glen Donaire, whom he defeated two fights prior to his (Darchinyan) first encounter with Noinito. On the other hand, Donaire accumulated another 13 straight victories after that TKO win against Darchinyan, before he was taken to boxing clinic by Cuban 2-time Olympian Guillermo Rigondeaux.

My Prediction:

If you will ask me, I'll go for Nonito Donire to win via stoppage in the middle rounds to Round 7.
