Nike's Jordan Brand signs boxer Gennady Golovkin

Earlier Nike dropped Manny Pacquiao, now they picked up middleweight titlist Gennady Golovkin. Jordan Brand signs Golovkin and added him to the family of more than 50 athletes from a variety of sports.

Golovkin went on Twitter and posted a picture of him pointing the jump man icon of Jordan Brand with a caption "In case you missed it, I signed with this guy yesterday."

Golovkin joined the "Jordan Brand behind top world pound for pound undefeated champion Andre Ward and former World Champion Roy Jones Jr."

Below is the full statement from Nike.com:

"Over the last 30 years, the Jordan Brand has become synonymous with greatness. What started with Michael continues today with the brand's diverse roster, which includes 50+ athletes from a variety of sports, all dedicated to pursuing greatness. Further evolving that legacy, today Jordan Brand announced that it has added yet another champion to the family: Gennady Golovkin, the Unified WBA, IBF, IBO and WBC Middleweight Champion of the World. "We are excited to add Gennady to the Jordan Brand family," affirms Larry Miller, Jordan Brand President. “Gennady’s work ethic, dedication to his craft and style make him a perfect fit.”

The Kazakhstani boxer officially announced his association with the brand from his training camp in Big Bear, California, where he is preparing to face Dominic Wade on Saturday, April 23, in Inglewood, California for his 17th consecutive defense of his World Middleweight Championship. Golovkin is 34-0 with 31 knockouts and a current streak of 21 consecutive knockouts. Currently training in Jordan Training product, Golovkin will work closely with the brand to continue the development of the category.
