Shawn Porter bulldozed Andre Berto on Saturday night at the Barclays Center, Brooklyn in New York.

Porter (27-2-1, 17KOs) scored a total of two knockdowns, one in Round 2 and another in Round 9. The referee stopped the contest at 1:31 mark in Round 9 after Berto (31-5, 24 KO) got up from the second knockdown resulting in a technical knockout in favor of Porter.

Porter, 29, displayed amazing energy throughout nine rounds. He was relentless with his attacks leaving no space for Berto, 33, to recalibrate his defense. In Round 2, Porter sent Berto to the floor with a right hand after absorbing a two-punch combo from Berto.

In the succeeding four rounds, it was all Porter's aggression keeping Berto to clinch more frequently.

Although the fight is not necessarily foul-filled but have plenty of accidental headbutts leaving both fighters cut and bloodied.

“My intention is never to use my head as a weapon. This was just a very hard-fought battle by both of us, and I’m blessed to get the victory," said Porter after the fight.

It was a busy night for the ringside doctor as he was asked by the referee to check Berto's cut twice.

Berto had his moment in Round 7, where he scored counter shots as Porter tried to rushed in.

In round 8, I don't know what is there hiding inside Berto's body because Porter kept on digging in there from the beginning minute.

In Round 9, the body shots from Porter a toll on Berto who now looks battered and defeated. Porter continued his aggression and if not because of the ropes, his ass would be on the floor. The referee rightfully counted as a knockdown and started yelling the mandatory count. After the referee signaled to resume the fight, Porter again hurt Berto with a hook. The referee stepped in to stop the fight.

With the win, Porter earned another shot at his recent conqueror --- Keith Thurman --- for another title fight.

Keith Thurman told Porter in the ring after the win over Berto that they could fight next.

"We just need to sit down and talk about it. He's hungry. You see the way he fights. It could be a great fight again."

Victor Ortiz never saw that uppercut coming!

Andre Berto evens the score stopping Victor Ortiz in the fourth round of their rematch on PBC on FOX main event at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. Berto (31-4, 24 KO) lost a decision during their first fight in 2011.

In the second round, Berto received a crisp left straight that sent him down to the floor. It was a beautifully thrown sort of a jab that landed while he was not in the right footing to absorb the shot. He went down but not hurt, and he got back up on his feet. The knockdown became sort of wake up call for Berto. He then pressed the action in the next round which he won clearly.

In the fourth, a right uppercut from Berto knocked down Ortiz hard. Ortiz got back up, but a familiar Ortiz face after a knockdown showed up. Jack Reiss allowed the fight to continue. Berto rushed in to close the show and down Ortiz once more. This time, after asking a question to Ortiz, Reiss stopped the fight.

The official time of the stoppage: 1:14 in Round 4.

"It's one of those punches I didn't see coming. He caught me with an uppercut. I never saw it coming. He's not a guy who hits soft, you know? He's one heck of a champ for a reason," said Ortiz.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. retains the title he told he will relinquish after his fight against Manny Pacquiao in May, by dominating, as expected, against Andre Berto over twelve rounds of something not explosive yet amazing to see how Floyd put on a boxing clinic for a boxer he gave so much credit before the fight.

The official scores were: 117-111, 118-110 and 120-108 all for Mayweather for the unanimous win.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. had a hoarse voice coming in at the kick-off press conference. When it was his turn to speak at the podium to talk about his fight against Andre Berto on September -- his last fight according to him -- he was coughing. Maybe because of too much chanting "hard work" and "TBE" during his hard training, which seemed nobody care as I can only see those on his Shots account without seeing any reporting about how he's preparing the fight.

I mean it seems nobody really cares about the fight. Nobody really talk about the fight and if there were, they were lashing him for choosing Andre Berto (30-3, 23 KOs) in the first place and the fight is not on free TV as it was first rumored.

It could have been a nice move of the undefeated American if he put this fight on free TV because it looks like giving back to the fans for raking in between 120-200 million dollars in his lackluster fight that we've been waiting for half a decade to happen.

It could have this been situation: Floyd picked an easy fight, put it on free TV and not charging $74.95, boxing fans happy; he'll go out there and win and be 49-0 (tie with Rocky Marciano); get the sponsorship, advertisement money and retire.

However, this is not what is happening. Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26 KOs) is all about money and I can't blame because the fight even if on free TV might not get good numbers of advertisers and sponsors because of taking on Andre Berto.

During the kick-off press conference, Floyd is ask about why Berto? Of course he's quick to defend about Berto, and even differentiates Manny Pacquiao and Berto. The difference is that "the media put all the hype on Manny Pacquiao says Floyd. The media "put all the hype on Manny Pacquaio".

I think it's not just hyping Many Pacquiao. I think the media is hyping the match-up itself because the fans wanted the fight in 2009. Floyd was the just the receiving end of criticism, because the popular opinion is -- he's the one ducking Pacquaio. But he should not blame the media. I think he should thank the media instead.

However, what I don’t like though is that how the media especially the media covering closely Pacquiao (that would be the Philippine media for sure) for not reporting what exactly happening in Pacquiao's camp. Yes I'm talking about that shoulder injury. Well, what the media will report if the injury did not really happen?

When Floyd was ask why he chose Berto instead of Amir Khan, Floyd is quick to deflect the question by saying Khan should get past Danny Garcia. Isn't it Berto should get past first Robert Guerrero?

Guerrero beat Berto, and Guerrero was taken to boxing school by no other than Floyd himself. Floyd is fighting the man who was beaten by the man he was beaten. Naaaa…! The school of thought is that it should be the other way around. Really, were moving backward.

When Floyd was ask about Keith Thurman, who has a title at the welterweight division, he again was quick to dismiss Thurman. "Nobody knows too much about him" says Floyd. So okay, let's deal with it. We have Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Andre Berto officially on September 13 live on Showtime PPV for $74.95 and I am not buying it, but I will watch it somewhere on the World Wide Web.

The undefeated boxing's pound-for-pound best Floyd Mayweather Jr. may have a brilliant plan before retiring. He said that his September fight is his last, but I doubt. In my opinion, he will fight one more time to surpass Rocky Marciano's perfect 49-0-0 record and retire 50-0-0.

Mayweather (48-0-0) will be fighting in September to fulfill his contractual obligation of his mega-buck, 6-fight deal with Showtime. The most likely opponent is Andre Berto.

With Andre Berto the likely opponent, many boxing observer believed that the 2015 Forbes highest paid athlete is looking for an easy fight. By beating Berto in September, Floyd will equal Marciano's record. In 2016, most likely, Floyd will hand-picked the easiest opponent he'll find. He will make sure that his 50th opponent will not derail his plan to retire 50-0-0 and break Marciano's record. Don't hope for a Pacquiao rematch.

But there's one fighter that will ruin Mayweather's brilliant plan: The master tactician, Cesar Rene Cuenca. He will ruin Mayweather's plan by not even fighting him in the ring.

Cuenca's 48-0-0 records equals Floyd.

Cuenca defeated China's Ik Yang last Saturday and ruined China's chance to have the second world champion after the sport of boxing was reinstated in this country.

If Cuenca, will fight again before Floyd fights on September, he'll equal Marciano's record first. That of course granted if he will win. OK, granted he wins. And if he will fight again before Mayweather fights next year, then again granted that he wins, then he will break Marciano's record first.

Floyd will end up chasing Cuenca's record.

If I were Floyd, I'll offer Cuenca to be my next opponent in September instead of Berto or I will pay Cuenca and I will let him retire.

Former world champion Andre Berto returns to the ring on September 6. He will open the three-fight Showtime Championship Boxing in US Bank Arena, Cincinnati, Ohio. Former undefeated Adrien Broner will headline the triple header.

Andre Berto (28-3, 23 KO's) will return to the ring and will be up against unknown Steve Upsher Chambers (24-3-1, 6 KO's) of Philadelphia for a 10-round welterweight bout.

This will be Berto's comeback fight since losing to Jesus Soto Karass in July 2013. Berto lost to Karass in a very entertaining fight. Berto chose to stand his ground taking power shot after power shot from the heavy handed Mexican. He was hurt several times. But landed also his own power uppercuts that hurt Karass. He even dropped Karass with a left uppercut to the body in the 11th round.

However, in the final round, Karass landed a beautiful counter left hook that sent Berto down. Berto was able to got up and beat the count. But the referee had seen enough and stopped the fight.

After that, Berto didn't fight the remainder of 2013. He will return on September 6 after more than one year in the sideline. And after recovering also from a shoulder surgery. Berto's comeback fight will determine how much he has in the tank. Berto is always an entertaining fighter and one of my favorite.
