Carl Froch put big exclamation mark on the rivalry between him and George Groves on Saturday night's rematch at the Wembley Stadium.

In front of 80,000 lively boxing fans, Carl Froch brutally knocks out George Groves in Round 8 of their rematch. Froch throws a left hook followed by a cracking right hand that landed on Groves left chin. Groves falls instantly. His left leg bends in an ugly position and flattened along with his body to the floor. His leg is in that position for a couple of seconds before it straightened up.

Referee Charlie Fitch didn't bother to count and immediately waived it off. Although, Groves was insensible for few seconds---he could understand the gesture of the referee. He tried to get up. And he did. His lion heart tells him to fight. But his heart didn't get the backing from his body and legs.

The referee didn't allow Groves to absorbed more damaging punishment from the poisonous "Cobra". And there's no controversy with the stoppage this time.

Before the stoppage, Groves is out-boxing the champion from the outside. I think he's well ahead of the scorecards prior to the stoppage. But in boxing one punch can turn everything around.

"But sometimes in professional boxing it only take one punch… one punch can be all the difference and all it needs". explained Froch.

However, a granite chin could also be a big difference. Groves has been landing some clean right hooks to Froch's chin. But Froch has unbelievable ability to absorbed those shots to the chin. This is what separates him from this fight---his iron chin.

Froch was calm and composed throughout the fight and he said that it was part of his adjustment.

"I was very calm and composed like I said I would be. I used my boxing. I tried to establish my jab, but George Groves is more quicker than me, he's very fast. If you time shots correctly, you know, time beat speed." said Froch of the adjustment he made for this fight.

Groves talk about the knockdown and congratulates Froch of the victory. I like the respect they showed towards each other after the fight in-spite bashing each other prior to the fight.

"Yeah I'm fine… It's boxing you know… he caught me, I went down. But I will come back and be better and stronger." said Groves when asked about the knockdown.

What next for Carl Froch?

"I love to box in Las Vegas. I said it because Las Vegas is the fight capital of the world." said Froch when asked where he wants to fight next.

It’s Froch vs. Groves rematch fight-week, fight-fans!

Carl Froch vs George Groves rematch is dubbed as the biggest boxing event in the United Kingdom. Carl Froch (32-2, 23 KO's) of Nottingham, once again locks horn with George Groves (19-1, 15 KO's) of Hammersmith, in a rematch scheduled on 31 May, at the Wembley Stadium, Wembley, London.

This rematch was build-up by the controversy and drama during the first fight that happened at the Phones 4u Arena (formerly M.E.N Arena), in Manchester on 23rd November 2013. The controversial stoppage in round 9, in favor of Froch, produced massive clamor from boxing fans---especially the UK boxing fans---to set-up for a rematch. And both men adhere to what the fans want.

Groves floored Froch in the first round by a huge right hand to the head. Froch although survived the round, but his legs were still to wobbly going into the second round. From there, Groves won most of the rounds. But in round 9, as Groves reeled a bit while Froch threw in foray of punches, but surprisingly, referee Howard John Foster absurdly stepped in and stopped the fight.

The crowd booed profusely during an interview with Froch after the stoppage, as Froch defended Foster’s decision halting the fight.

Fast forward---six months after that awful night for Groves---he has the chance to correct what he believed, and what the boxing fans believed Foster did wrong. And for Froch to prove that there's nothing wrong with the stoppage.

From this post until fight night; I'll be posting updates pertaining to this fight---as much as I can---to keep you updated. Saturday’s HBO Boxing After Dark telecast begins at 4 p.m. (ET/PT) with super world featherweight title fight between Simpiwe Vetyeka vs. Nonito Donaire from Macau. The main event of the day live at 4:45 p.m. (ET/PT) features a highly anticipated 12-round title rematch between super middleweight title-holder Carl Froch and top contender and arch-rival George Groves.

It's Carl Froch vs George Groves preview and prediction fight fans!

The most anticipated Carl Froch vs. George Groves rematch will finally happen on Saturday, 31 May, at the Wembley Stadium. The controversy that surrounds the first encounter will finally be settled inside the ring. Referee Foster's absurd stoppage of the first fight in favor of Froch gain so much of controversy and criticism from the ringside fans and the boxing fans in general. As a result, fans demand for a rematch. And both men adhere.

Prior to the first match Groves is undefeated in 19 fights while Froch is a veteran of 30 fights. Froch belittle Groves in the first fight thinking that the challenger from Hammersmith not deserved to be in same ring with him.

On the program "The Gloves Are Off" for this rematch, Froch denied respect for the 23 year old kid that floored him in the first round. Froch, 37, is a proud champion who has already place among the British boxing greats. He had epic fights from who's who in his boxing division. This made Groves so motivated in the rematch.

During the final press conference Groves is so confident of winning on Saturday night. “We’ve been working on left hooks–it will be the left hook which finishes Carl Froch on Saturday night." Groves said confidently.

However, Froch simply answered Groves' statement and said, “If that’s the case, I better pick my right hand up!, I’m 36 but I’ve still got what it takes. It’s a cliché, but it’s just a number."

The weaknesses I saw on both fighters:

Groves

1. He has limited in-fighting skills, but he compensate in by going to the defensive by doubling up while crouching or smothering Froch counters and simply holding, so that the referee will reset.


2. He's prone to uppercuts when he doubles up while crouching during close encounters. But Froch didn't throw as much uppercuts during the first fight.


3. He tends to wear and tire in late rounds.

Froch

1. During exchanges, he has the tendency to position his feet---too square enough---to easily go down if hit with flush counters.


2. Tends to be too open for counters once mounting own attacks.

My Prediction:

Groves has mental toughness to deal with Froch mind games. So, this rematch boils down to who really prepared physically and trained for the right game plan. And in the actual fight---who can adjust to counter every effective game plan against each other. Who can exploit and improve on the above aforementioned weaknesses. And I think Groves did his homework. George Groves TKO8.

During the final press conference of the most anticipated and perhaps the biggest boxing event in the British history: The Carl Froch vs George Groves rematch. Groves is so confident and says that it's the left hook that will finished Carl Froch on Saturday at the Wembley Stadium.

But Carl Froch seemed not intimidated with the young challenger's statement. "If that's the case, I better pick my right hand up!, I'm 36 but I've still got what it takes. It's a cliche, but it's just a number."

Groves came in looking extremely elegant wearing tuxedo---dress to death---is how we call it in the Philippines to someone extremely formal, I thought he was Max Kellerman shaving his beard. While Carl Froch came in a sporty look. Froch had his two championship belts hanging on his shoulders during the snap shots.

During the interview with Sky Sports news Groves showed again confidence---and I like that confidence he has. I'm still undecided though who to pick on my preview and prediction piece for this fight. And looks like I'm picking him now.

"It couldn't have gone any better. I couldn't have asked for more. After I beat Carl on Saturday, I'll be able to put it to bed. I'm still sore. Fortunately through my hard work I've been able to get the rematch." said Groves.

Asks about a prediction for this fight, Groves said, "We're not preparing for a three-round fight. But I don't think Carl Froch will be able to get through three rounds. He's probably banking on a 12-round fight where I'll fade. But I'll get stronger round-by-round. We've got everything covered."

With those words from Groves... hell yeah! it made me more excited for Saturday.

On Friday afternoon, will be the official weigh in. This is where I expect some sort of drama, as the final presser seems too civilized.
