Manny Pacquiao will face Juan Manuel Marquez for the fourth time on December 8, 2012. The fight will be held in MGM Grand, Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas Nevada, USA. Kenny Bayless will be the referee. The judges are Adalaide Byrd (Nevada), Steve Weisfeld (New Jersey) and John Keane (UK). This is a 12 round fight and the winner will take special WBO belt “Fighter of the Decade”.


Pacquiao and Marquez first meet on May 8, 2004 for WBA and IBF title. Pacquiao floored Marquez three times in the first round but the Mexican warrior got up and continued until the final bell—sweeping most of the remaining rounds. The fight ended in a draw.
Marquez felt he won the fight. Pacquiao wanted a rematch. But the rematch did not materialize until May 15, 2008—almost four years. Pacquiao won a split decision. A fight that could went either way. Roach believed that the third round knockdown made the difference. Marquez felt he was robbed.

For the third time the arch-rival fought once again on November 11, 2011; promising a decisive conclusion of their rivalry. Many believe Pacquaio will knock-out Marquez this time. This prediction is based on Pacquiao’s blockbuster performance against bigger opponents in higher weight class that includes David Diaz, Oscar De la Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Miguel Cotto, Joshua Clottey, Antonio Margarito and Shane Mosley.

Nevertheless, we are entertained with the same outcome—a very competitive fight that could go either way. Pacquaio won via majority decision.  Marquez felt he was robbed for the third time. He was so upset that he talked about retirement but willing to face his tormentor for a fourth time.

However, Pacquiao believed that he has nothing to do with Marquez and fought undefeated American Timothy Bradley in June—losing in a very controversial decision.

Prediction
My prediction for Pacquiao vs. Marquez 4 is simple. “Styles makes fight”. This will be again a very competitive and entertaining fight that could go either way that will make it controversial again; déjà vu of the second and third fight. Why? It is because they are too familiar to each other. The element of surprise will not be there.

At this late stage of their career it is almost impossible for them to change dramatically their style. Levels of motivation might be different.

However, a single punch can change everything. Pacquaio can do that. Marquez said that it is difficult to knockout Pacquaio but it is possible.

Style make fights.

Freddie Roach transformed Pacquiao from a single fisted brawler into a well rounded fighter. He added techniques to Pacquiao's built in strength--power and speed--a lethal combination. Pacquiao dominated every single opponent that Bob Arum put in front of him.

He dominated all but not Marquez: this is simply because of style. Every fight Pacquiao learned one or two new tricks that might be effective at some point during a fight but can be easily adjusted by a counter puncher like Marquez.


Pacquiao will easily knockdown brawlers like Rios or Katsidis. Because they will trade punches with Pacquiao. Power vs. power, but Pacquiao’s speed will be the edge.

However, if you put Marquez or Mayweather Jr.--both are brilliant counter punchers--Pacquiao will always have difficulty. There is always a never ending debate whose style will prevail if Pacman and Mayweather will finally meet.

Back to Marquez. Why Pacquiao unable to knockout Marquez or unable to score even a knockdown during the third fight? Pacquiao was not able to throw and land the same volume of combinations during the first fight. Why? because Pacquiao knows very well Marquez and Marquez knows very well Pacquiao.

Pacquiao knows that once he throw a punch, Marquez is waiting to counter. In the third fight Pacquiao after throwing combos, would pull back his hands to cover--defending the counter, although Marquez not thrown a punch. Because Pacman anticipated that Dinamita will fire and while Marquez also anticipated that Pacman will throw more than 3 combos.

To beat Marquez is to fight the way he fight Marquez in the first round of the first fight. Speed… speed... speed… combo... combo.. combo… aggression… aggression… overwhelm Marquez. Pacman should not give Marquez the time to think--keep him busy evading his fast combo.

Pacman is faster than Marquez, Pacman can absorb Marquez best shot while Marquez cannot. So why not let his hands go and bombard Marquez with bombs till he drop.

But this is easier said than done. Pacquiao needs to train hard as he can and his oxygen full and be in his old self because Marquez is highly motivated not only looking to counter but to knockout his arch-rival.

In a video, Marquez looked very sharp and rip--hulking up muscles. I'm sure he will not look like a bloated lightweight come fight night.

If Pacquaio and Marquez both look to end this fight before the final bell then brace yourself, but if not, then even the idea of a fifth fight would make me cover my ears--not to hear the same drama.

50 Cent, rapper that turns into a boxing promoter created buzz on twitter after throwing several insult against his former buddy and best friend, boxing pound-for-pound kingpin Floyd Mayweather Jr. You may find here, if you want to see exactly the words both 50 Cent and Mayweather Jr. tweeted.

50 Cent who has around eight million follower and around three million for Floyd, generated tens of thousands re-tweet. It was the trending topic on that day. Upon checking every major sport sites—this is the topic being discussed.


Many believed that this is only a mere stunt and faked. Who knows this two were together when they insulted each on tweeter.

I also wonder what 50 and Floyd would benefit from insulting each other. Maybe to simply catch attention. Then I remember one book that mentioned some part of 50 Cent life story before he become successful as a rapper.

The book is entitled “The 48 Laws of Power” written by Robert Greene. This book enumerates 48 (obviously) laws with actual examples from well-known individual in each law on how to become a powerful person.

Law number six says “Court attention at all cost”. I think this Law now is in action not only for 50 Cent but also for Floyd. They become more popular being enemies than friends—so why not throwing insults on tweeter.

Now that 50 got the attention he wanted, my next question is how he will utilize it? Well, as a boxing promoter it helps to market his boxer—undefeated featherweight Yuriorkis Gamboa who is scheduled to fight in the undercard of Pacquiao vs. Marquez IV.

This is Gamboa's fight after a year of inactivity. Gamboas “no show” during a press conference to his suppose fight with Brandon Rios—added delay on his ring return.

Apart from this, 50 Cent also is trying to match Gamboa to Floyd that made Floyd Sr. and Roger Mayweather laugh off. 50 even willing to gave additional 20 million to the winner. For me it is like giving his money to Floyd for nothing.

How stupid it is in my opinion for a boxing promoter to feed your 126 pounder boxer to the best fighter fighting at 154 pounds or even 147 pounds.

Anyway, either it is true or not it is only Floyd and 50 know it. We like it or not we need personalities like these to make boxing more lively and merrier.

Abner Mares who came from a fresh victory over Anselmo Moreno last week—mauling him for twelve rounds and got the unbelievable unanimous decision, tweeted in twitter for a fight with Nonito ‘The Filipino Flash’ Donaire.

“Well my bday is coming up on the 28 of this month, And all I want for my bday is a fight VS Nonito ..#maresdonaire #walkformaresdonaire”

It seems that Abner Mares is very interested for a fight with the Filipino star Nonito Donaire. I’m sure this could be a great fight. Imagine the roughhousing of Mares collide with Donaire’s counter punching skills.


Whose style will prevail? Nonito Donaire’s upcoming fight with Mexican volume puncher Jorge Arce would be a good barometer to test how good Donaire to swarming and mauling style.

However, at this point Mares has a good chance at Donaire, not to mention his out of the book tricks—that is disappointing to watch (Watch Abner Mares vs. Anselmo Moreno highlights last week) from a young and talented guy who could win without doing such tricks.

I like this match-up if Donaire get past Arce.

Will a fight with Donaire could be a nice birthday gift for Mares? Well, of course defends on the outcome of the fight—if this one will materialize, he better hope it will be on his favor, otherwise he might  stop asking for a birthday gift like this because this might be a bad idea.

In my opinion—to all super bantamweight boxers—Donaire might not be a cool birthday gift. Money wise yes! then not bad for a birthday gift.

The veteran Japanese star Toshiaki Nishioka announced retirement from boxing and is hanging up his boxing gloves for good. Nishioka was knockout by Donaire in his previous super bantamweight championship fight in hope to regain world title.

In a post written by Bad Left Hook's Brent Brokehouse from a quote from Asia One.

"I have done what I should do. I am fully satisfied with my boxing career," the 36-year-old left-hander told a press conference in Tokyo. "I have experienced excitement many times through 18 years as a pro boxer." ...

"I am confident of becoming champion again if I fight boxers other than Donaire," said Nishioka, who is set to open a gym and train young boxers.

"But I cannot think of any better fight than the one I had with him."

Before his fight with Donaire I have a feeling already that if Nishioka will be beaten and shall we say will be knockout badly by Donaire--he will definitely retire from boxing. The aging Nishioka who had a sterling career deserve to call it quit after defeated by one of  boxing pound for pound best.

Nishioka during that fight, not just come to survive but to come to win, although he knows that he is up for a younger and powerful fighter he didn't refuse to bring it on that is why he got open and Donaire capitalize the opportunity and knocked him out inside round eight.
I salute to Nishioka and good-luck to his new gym and his intention to train young fighters who love the sweet science.

Abner Mares won against Anselmo Moreno, retain his super bantamweight title, in a manner that you will dubbed him not just simply tricky no more, but pure and plain dirty. Not so good statement yeah? for Mares fans but that is how it is. Mares is a very talented and nice guy minus the ring, gloves and opponent. Mares I think without using those foul maneuver could win a fight in a fair shake.


What really hurt the image of the sport in this fight is the way it is being officiated. I don't how many times Mares hit Moreno in the groin, all I can hear is referee Caiz Jr. keep on saying like after every other round saying "keep 'em up" without deducting a point but deducted Moreno for pushing Mares head down.

Al Bernstein tweeted that "abner's head get's pushed down in every fight because of way he lunges in."

I think Moreno pushed Mares head down when Mares crouched in front of him thinking that Mares will hit him again another illegal blow. If that is the case, Moreno could have cover his balls instead of his chin and start shelling Mares balls also and this could have been a boxingball.

Apart from this, judging was very pro-Mares. In my opinion even if Mares did a good job in an all out aggression whatever it is to win the fight--and he really did win that fight but not in a score of 120-106. I don't know how judge Dr. James Jen-Kin scored the fight. It was like he was seeing Moreno's hand tied on his back.

A 114-112 would be somewhat near the line not a shootout. Even a draw would not raise anyone's eyebrow. I feel that referee like this bias should be penalized. Sometimes maybe we are unfair but in a way that it can be digested. Something not OA; this one is really exaggerated.

Filipino prospect Drian "Hands of Gold" Francisco is reported to have a shot of ex-Cuban Olympic gold medalist Guillermo "The Jackal" Rigondeaux in the undercard of the fight between Nonito Donaire and Jorge Arce in Toyota Center, Houston, Texas, USA on December 17.  I told to myself that this could be a chance of another Filipino to become a world champion.

However, in an article written by Ed de la Vega of Philboxing.com, Rigondeaux 11-0-0 (KO 8) will instead fight Thai ex-champion Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym. That was depressing for Francisco who was in the US for some time looking for a fight.

De La Vega hinted two reasons why the fight did not materialize. First, it is simply "business-wise". HBO prefer for the Thai fighter because mainly of penetrating the Thai market—also a country that follows boxing. Besides the veteran and former champion has a huge following locally.

Unlike Francisco, it becomes redundant since the Filipino boxing fans would definitely watch because of Donaire being the main event.

Second reason cited that allegedly, Rigondeaux viewed Francisco as a "high-risk" but "low-return" (I don't know if this is another term for being scared) opponent. I think it is true because in my opinion Francisco would really give Rigo some problem. I know that Rigo is being groom to gain more and more popularity for a possible mega showdown with Donaire.

After Donaire dispatched Nishioka in his last fight, Rigondeaux name afloat and there are some claim that Donaire should fight Rigo next. Nevertheless, Donaire was quick to dismiss the idea that Rigo needs to probe him and fight more quality opponents. This position of Donaire started some fans telling that he is ducking Rigo.

I think if Rigo wanted a shot of Donaire it is vital for him to fight Drian. If he could beat Drian then Donaire might think that he is the one he should fight next. Donaire being also a Filipino knows well what Drian could bring.

However, if the real reason is really about “business”, then what he can do? Boxing is a big business after all.

Veteran Mexican star Jorge Arce is the clear underdog in his fight against Filipino star Nonito Donaire 30-1-0 (KO 19) in Toyota Center, Houston, Texas on December 15, 2012. But Arce is confident that he can knockout Donaire.

Well, in my opinion yes why not. Arce 61-6-2 (KO 46) is a volume puncher—offense is his defense. He throws a lot of them as if his way to catch his breath is to throw a punch. The more I feel that he is tired in a fight, the more I see him throw a lot more punches. He doesn’t care how many his opponent will land as long as he throws his own. Arce also has heart of a true champion. He is okay being the underdog but fight the way he used to and not intimidated nor unfazed by the situation.


Arce also continues to come forward and never back down to whatever adversities he will face in the course of the fight because he bleeds easily. I remember when he fought Hussein Hussein—that was classic. Arce was bleeding through his eyes and face but his willingness to win was tremendous and he knockout Hussein in round 10 in the first match. It was a very exciting match that lead to a rubber match that Arce won again just in the second round.


Arce’s fight also with Vazquez Jr. was the same story; he was the underdog, bleeding and was the older lion against the younger Vazquez but come out and won the fight. Donaire also defeated vazquez.

However, what I noticed is that both Hussein and Vazquez are fighters that love to fight toe to toe. This is the type of style that suited to Arce because he throws a lot so the chance of landing more is high against a come-forward fighter.

Darchinyan, another brawler and loves toe-to-toe action but defeated Arce because this guy is a heavy puncher. In my opinion, Arce has problem in his style if his opponent—although fights toe-to-toe but has the power. Arce is prone to be hit. And once hit with a heavier puncher then he is done.

Cristian Mijares, this guy is a different fighter among the three I mention but defeated Arce. Mijares is a technical boxer. He moves around, uses lateral, good footwork, and uses jab. Arce was always off balance when he fought Mijares. This only means that Arce has also a problem with less powerful but technical fighters that is why Mijares won unanimously.

Now, it happens that Donaire, in my opinion is the heavier puncher and a technical fighter too, that will give Arce twice the problem not to mention the age factor. Now, you decide whether or not Arce could pull an upset being the underdog.

Former 'buddy' and 'best-friends' 50 Cent and Floyd Mayweather Jr. exchange nasty tweets against each other. It all started from 50 Cent tweet that said.

Floyd Maywearther Jr. responded with the following stream.

The final installment (I hope this would be the last) of bitter rivals in boxing, Filipino boxing icon Manny ‘Pac-man’ Pacquiao and Mexican star Juan Manuel ‘Dinamita’ Marquez revealed the undercards. 

Gamboa ‘a no-show’ during the presser of a suppose bout with Brandon Rios will be in action after almost a year of inactivity. He last fought Daniel Ponce De Leon in September last year and won via 8 round technical decision. 


IBF lightweight champion Miguel Vazquez of Mexico will defend his title against undefeated Filipino Gesta. It has been a while that Gesta is fighting the ranks to become another Filipino world champion; this is his shot at the IBF champion.

In a recent video uploaded by oscar8874 on Youtube, Juan Manuel Marquez looked bigger and stronger.  Marquez did a sparring for almost three minutes.

In Pacquiao-Marquez III, Marquez does not look bloated at all at 144 catchweight. To some degree I could say that he even look like the regular welter compared to Pacquiao that night. Referring to this video I think Marquez would be more comfortable now—full welterweight limit at 147.

I just hope the added weight and muscle would not slow him down. But if you look at the video, it seems speed is not a problem and the fact that Pacquiao’s speed had lessen to some extent, Marquez added weight means more power that may absorb Pacquiao’s best shot without his ass kissing on the canvas.

Marquez combine power and technique plus speed that can catch up Pacquiao’s pace might finally give Marquez the big win that he is looking for since 2004 when they first met. A possible knockout also might happen that he is nagging for—to beat his rival.

I wonder if drinking its own urine is still part of Marquez preparation and bulking up muscle in this fight. If so, I am just curious if how many liters of urine Marquez is drinking up to this point in his preparation. In your opinion how many liters?

Emanuel ‘Manny’ Steward an inductee of the International Boxing Hall Of Fame, and the World Boxing Hall of Fame pass away at the age of 68. The boxing world loses one of boxing great stewards.

Steward was also a boxing analyst and commentator of HBO. He trained more than 40 champions throughout his career. Notable boxer that he used to train was Thomas Hearns.

Steward was also a boxer having 97 total fights and won 94 with only 3 losses.

It is hard to imagine that this year alone we lost two boxing legends—Bert Sugar in March and yesterday Emanuel Steward.

On Tuesday I sat on the Kuwait Sports Club bleacher in Kaifan, watching Azkals to exact revenge against their FIFA World Cup Qualifier tormentor—Al Azraq (The Blue Team)—Kuwait's national football team. But Azkals was again routed by the mighty Kuwaitis 1-2. You may find my article of the game here.

I note several things during the game that I try to streamline into three. I am no expert about this sport but to compare the previous game in July 2011 and on Tuesday's game is a 'no brainer'. So, I just put my observations in simple words without much of football’s terminology.
Speed and superior ball handling skills
It was the same speed and superior ball handling skills that lifted the Kuwaitis to victory. 'Speed kills' as what they said. I saw how a Kuwait striker outrunning Angel Guirado in the flank that suppose to be an all alone attack towards the goal while Kuwaiti defenders advanced deep down the midfield leaving their goal keeper alone. There were several opportunities for the Azkals that were defended well by the Kuwaitis utilizing their speed.

Azkals made great improvement in controlling the middle. In their first encounter in July 2011—Azkals was scoreless and very weak in the middle. The Kuwaitis took a lot of ball possession from the middle either from intercepting a pass or a steal. It is reported that Azkals control 44% of the ball during the game compare to a very low percentage last year. In this game I am impressed how Azkals was able to minimized steals. Take a look at the video below for one of the most notable play (aside from goals of course) that I took.



Very few Filipinos
Last year it was reported that around 15,000 chanting Filipinos showed up to support Azkals and I agree with that. I was not able to get in that time through the gate instead I jump off the fence. Personnel that controls the gates were pretty fucked up by the large number of Pinoys, including me that wanted to get in. The fact that Qadsiya Stadium is even bigger than Kaifan stadium but it is really full.

However last Tuesday’s game was the opposite. The stadium was smaller but the Filipinos were very few that it looks empty especially the opposite side. The total spectators, I believed not even occupied one fourth of the stadium. I feel maybe because of the following;

•    Azkals were not as popular.
•    The match was not well-promoted.
•    The match was held during midweek.

The Philippine Football National team Azkals failed to avenge their FIFA World Cup Qualifier tormentor—Al Azraq—Kuwait’s National Football team during their FIFA sanction friendly match in Kuwait Sports Club in Kaifan. The speed and superior ball handling skills was Kuwait’s main weapon to edged Azkal into a 2-1 victory.
Neil Etheridge, Azkal goalkeeper made an excellent saves to deny Kuwait early assault in the 6th, 7th and 22nd minute of the first half. The Filipino fans were on their feet for every successful catch Etheridge did for the Azkals. In the 27th minute Guirado gave up a tackle in the penalty area enabling Bader Al Mutwa for the penalty kick but again Etheridge defended it well.

However, Etheridge good start was short lived when a Kuwaiti striker slip in the first goal to their advantage in the 35th minute of regulations first half that silenced the Filipino fans.

It is very evident that Al Azraq’s game plan was to attack and attack Azkals in the early going that resulted to three unsuccessful attempts, a penalty kick and a goal in the first half alone.

In the second half, Azkals is under pressure to score a goal to equalize the game and be back in the drawing board. Azkals pressed the action and awarded a penalty kick after a handball.

Younghusband took the penalty kick and sunk it in after a helpless Kuwaiti goalkeeper. The Filipino fans gone wild and was up on their feet once again chanting Azkals! Azkals! Azkals!

However, the desired draw for the Azkals was again denied by the Kuwaitis when Al Enezi made a penalty kick that was awarded to them in a penalty call that Etheridge failed to defend. The Kuwaitis cruised to a 2-1 victory.

Etheridge tweeted after the game,

“Hard game... But the team played well, another day maybe a better result but overall we did well. Let's keep improving”.

The Philippine Azkals is in Kuwait for a friendly match against Kuwait National Team Al Azraq tomorrow, October 16, 2012 at Kuwait Sports Club Stadium in Kaifan. According to a report of Michelle Fe Santiago from Arab Times, the friendly match will kick-off at 6:50 pm. Tickets are available at the stadium box office and priced at KD 1, KD 2 and KD 3.

On July 2011, Philippine Azkals was denied by Kuwait National Team on their hope for the 2014 FIFA world Cup in a home and away series. The mighty Kuwaitis crushed Azkals, 3-0 on that night in the eyes of 15,000 strong Filipino supporters in Kuwait. While in the Philippines, Kuwait scored 2 goals against 1 earning a 5-1 aggregate to advance in the third round. Kuwait was then defeated by South Koreans in the third round.

In a tweet from Neil Etheridge at 3:27 pm today, it seems that they are headed for training and is happy for the weather in Kuwait which is 30 degrees at that time. Azkals was enduring around 40 degrees heat last year that might have a dramatic effect on their performance.

In this match Azkals wanted revenge on their tormentor and will give a competitive game. Azkals have new players like Matthew Uy, Demet Omphroy, and striker Denis Wolf who scored a hat trick—three goals in one game, during the Peace Cup.

Goal keeper Neil Etheridge and the Younghusband brothers—Phil and James will also rejoin Team Azkals after missing the Peace Cup which the team was the champion.

According to their Coach Michael Weiss they wanted keep their defense up and to at least secure a scoreless draw. But they train to win.

Azkals held a much higher ranked Bahrain on a scoreless draw on Friday. Azkal vs. Kuwait friendly match is the final leg of Middle East matches for Azkals preparation for the Suzuki Cup in November.

In feel that this game was not as hyped as last time but I still expect a lot of support from the Filipinos in Kuwait and count me in too because I will be there. See you all in Kaifan Pinoys in Kuwait.

Update16 October 2012 at 10PM: The Kuwaiti National Team 'Al Azraq' wins against Team Azkals 2-1 moments ago at Kuwait Sports Club Stadium in Kaifan. The mighty Kuwaitis showed once again their superior ball handling skills and a whole lot faster than the Azkals.

Nonito ”The Filipino Flash”once again dominated opponent now in Toshiaki Nishioka and eventually knocked him out in round nine. Nonito was clearly in control in the early going of the fight. He was fast and as I expect a whole lot stronger in the third time at 122 pounds.

Nishioka showed that he aged and was not able to catch-up the phase of Donaire and was very cautious. Nishioka had a very high respect of Donaire's left hook—he pasted his right hand to his right chin—sacrificing his right jab and as a result he can’t also throw his left straight.

A hesitant Nishioka in the early rounds made the fans booed—it is evident that the crowd was looking for the same action between Rios and Alvarado. The referee yells at him to box—this is boxing not dancing.

Donaire continue what he does best in the early rounds, looking only to counter and patiently waiting for opening. But Nishioka refused to engage and was still hiding in his shell just faking his punches but not throwing anything. The impatient crowd of Carson California increased the volume of boos.

Nishioka steps up the gas after Donaire’s left uppercut find his target on his chin and he was down—his ass first to the canvas. The crowd becomes excited but Nishioka stood and continue.

In the beginning I was thinking that Nishioka wanted only to survive because he seemed accepted that Donaire is a different animal. But Nishioka rallied in round nine and looking for his own way to win—to knockout Donaire because he is way behind the scorecards.

However, Nishioka got tagged with a hard straight right counter from Donaire to his mouth and again he trip to canvas—now flat on his back. He stood right away but was so wobbly although the referee allowed him to continue. But after a single punch from the raging Donaire—the referee stopped the fight.

In a quick words Donaire was simply the stronger, faster and younger while Nishoka has aged and rusty due to 11 months of inactivity. With Nishiokas sterling career and at 36, I think it is time to hang his gloves for good

As expected the fight between undefeated fighters Brandon Rios and Mike Alvarado was pure fire versus fire from the beginning till the end. Both fighters open fires punches that has brutal intention. Alvarado's punishing uppercuts find its target almost at will at Rios's head and body. While Rios has his left hook landed from the inside. Both brawlers absorb each other punches well—superb conditioning.

However, it is Rios's big right hand—the one that Alvarado did not see coming while he ducked—that hurt and sent him to the ropes. Rios followed up with left right combinations that opted the referee to stop the fight just right in time at 1:57 in Round 7.

In my unofficial scorecards, I've got Alvarado leading four rounds to two. Alvarado was the fighter who try to mix it up. He throws snapping jab from the outside and circle around Rios. His uppercuts was the telling blows before the knockout.

Rios comes straight forward to Alvarado and absorb those crushing uppercuts but he comes back with his own punches. Rios's left hook finding his mark also at Alvarados chin.

The end comes in round 7 when Alvarado was caught by a hard right that hurt him badly, followed by a combination. Alvarado backed to the ropes really wobbly and Rios fired left and right and the referee step in to stop the fight.

I would like a rematch for this fight it was unbelievable fight and ended in a knockout. Unbeleivable fighters that really stood their ground and pleased the knockout hungry fans. In the end it was Alvarado's "O" that go.

This a sure "fight of the year" candidate.

Round 7 Hard right to the chin Alvarado was hurt. Alvarado was in serious trouble. He was wobbly. Referee stops the fight. Oh my God. Official result 1:57 in round 7. Up next: Donaire vs, Nishioka

Round Six Rios start with a left hook. Again in the inside left hook Rios. Uppercut Alvarado Short crosses Alvarado. Hard right Alvarrado. Rios comes back with body shots. Alvarados round.

Round 5 Alvarado tries to circle around with his jab. Rios closes in with body shots. Back and forth action. Alvarado round for me.

Round 4 Alvarado mix it up from the inside and out. Good uppercut by Alvarado but Rios refuse to backdown. Good body shot for Rios. Nice combo for Alvarado. I got it for Rios.

Round 3 Alvarado try to adjust. Try to jab that snaps Rios head back. Again they fight in the inside. Back and forth dropping bombs. Alvarados uppercut always find his mark. Alvarado got this round.

Round 2 Rois throws crushing left hook that find its target at Alvarados chin that absorbs it, no problem. Alvarado nice uppercut. Rios smiled. Rios counters. I give this round for Alvarado for that telling uppercut. 

Round 1 No sizing made for both fighters. Throwing bombs from the inside no one refuse to back down. Fireworks as expected from this very round. Round could go either way but I got it for Rios

One of the best match up anticipated to be fireworks. Many boxing pundits believed that it will gonna be Gatti vs. Ward. Besides both fighter are undefeated.

Once again I will breakdown my prediction and analysis of the fight between Nonito ‘The Filipino Flash’ and the Japanese super bantamweight champion Toshiaki Nishioka for the WBO world title.

I watch again the fight between Toshiaki Nishioka and Rafael Marquez on replay. I noticed that Nishioka is successful with his right jab, straight left combo that landed in the head and body of Marquez.

Before I go on further let me set the scene on that fight. Marquez is the orthodox while Nishioka is the southpaw fighter. So, Nishioka's lead foot is his right while Marquez is his left. In this kind of matchup the fighter that would create better attacking opportunity is the one that can position his lead foot outside the lead foot of his opponent while throwing his left hand for the lefty and the right hand for the righty in the middle.

Nishioka was the fighter who did this every time he launches attack on Marquez.  Nishioka did this by stepping his lead foot outside Marquez’s lead foot while throwing his right jab followed by his left straight either to Marquez’s body or head and then circle to his right (Marquez’s own left side).

With this move, Nishioka was able to land those punches while evading Marquez's counter right hand which is his power hand. Marquez reacted to this move by pivoting his back foot to the right finding Nishioka towards his left and firing his own punches which is by then Nishioka will disengage smartly, circling away to the opposite direction (clockwise) to let Marquez follow him towards his left.

Then again Nishioka will repeat the same maneuver. To neutralize this move is to throw a counter left hook. Which happen to be the money punch of Donaire.

Therefore, if Nishioka will apply the same tactic to Donaire; he will be eating that left hook all night. However, Donaire must keep his right hand pasted to his right chin because Nishioka’s left also will be there after that right jab. Although the left hook will travel faster, Nishioka will be beaten by the punch.

In Donaires’s previous fight, I saw some flaws that might be seen also in this fight. After he scored a knockdown against Mathebula, he is hunting for that single lights-out-punch that never happen. He become too eager to land that shot and was so impatient. Donaire started to showboat when Mathebula also connects. That only means to me that he is desperate for that knockout. Nishioka may utilize this kind of immaturity to his advantage.

Nishioka is a veteran fighter—experience might be in his side. I expect that Nishioka will adjust his game plan on this fight especially if Donaire’s left hook will start to find its spot. What adjustment he will do is very exciting to watch.

One more thing that interests me also is Donaire’s versatility to switch from right to left stance. One way or the other it will confuse Nishioka.

I see Donaire being too fast and has the skill set to win unanimously in 12 rounds.
