July 5 and 6 is a lonely boxing weekend

6:48 PM July 5, 2014

Dear Boxing Diary,

It is a quiet weekend for boxing because it's holiday in the US in connection with yesterday's celebration of America's Independence day, I can't find any fights that falls this weekend. It is indeed lonely.

Apart from the holiday, the football world also is upbeat as the World Cup 2014 is in the semi-final stage.
Today Leonil Messi and Argentina will be up against Belgium and Netherlands vs. Costa Rica.

However, starting Wednesday, July 9 till Saturday night, next week boxing will be back to normal. On Wed. at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas, Alfonso Gomez will return against Ed Paredes for junior middleweights. And of course on Saturday night the junior middleweight showdown between Mexican star Saul Canelo Alvarez vs. Erislandy Lara
